University deregulation beginning 2016 (2014 budget)

See what I said about it to amirbang. Perhaps I am making assumptions here but I see no other way how this system would work, unless you could provide me with another one. Again, that comes back to my point that the fees would be invested back into the teaching, improving the student's...

University deregulation beginning 2016 (2014 budget)

You'd expect the increase in quality to be pretty significant then. Especially since the Government has placed a lot of emphasis on the importance of medical research in the Budget. Yes the fees would be higher, but you would get a lot more out of it. Besides, it's not like they're getting rid...

University deregulation beginning 2016 (2014 budget)

I intend to be in university for a while myself, so I'm pretty certain the increased fees will affect me. Even so, I don't get all of this hysteria about the fee deregulation. Perhaps I am an idealist, but the way I see it is: deregulation would lead to unis raising fees, which in turn would...

Redoing a subject you have passed

I imagine it would. I actually wasn't aware that was the case, I always assumed the opposite. Thanks for teaching me something today engineering. :)

Redoing a subject you have passed

That's right, if you don't apply for credit, it won't appear on your transcript or be counted towards your degree. However, you still won't be allowed (at least via the standard means) to enrol in that unit. If you fail a unit it is a different story; do it again, don't apply for credit for it...

Redoing a subject you have passed

Which is what I did. But it doesn't change the fact that I should have been prohibited from doing the exact same unit twice. I would have thought that universities would be quite particular about those things.

Redoing a subject you have passed

Yeah as has been said you won't be able to do a subject you have already passed. Although, when I originally transferred courses at the beginning of the year, I told the person who was on the computer enrolling me what subjects I wanted to do (one of which was a subject I had already did...

    Lost motivation after HSC....

You've only been at uni for 11 weeks. Give it time. If you continue to get bored from studying then perhaps your degree is not for you.

    USYD vs UTS Engineering

Both universities would be looked upon well. There is more to a university education than getting graduate jobs. Ultimately you are there to learn and to gain knowledge. Focus on enjoying and succeeding at that, and then worry about what you want to do afterwards.

    USYD vs UTS Engineering

That's really a matter for personal opinion. Go to the Open Days when they come around and make up your own mind. Personally I'd slightly favour UTS.

What did you think of the protest that happened in MacLaurin Hall?

It's not so much a reallocation of the Government's money, it's a reallocation of who is responsible for paying that money. Perhaps from the Government perspective spending is being cut, but from the view of the entities receiving that money, they would still be receiving money, except this time...

What did you think of the protest that happened in MacLaurin Hall?

There's a lot of generalised accusations in what you have just said. Perhaps if you would care to provide us with some examples I would be happy to discuss them.

What did you think of the protest that happened in MacLaurin Hall?

Two problems with that, one, increases in tax bring no benefit to anyone except the Government itself (who in many circumstances do not desperately need it), and two, not all people in well paying jobs have gone to university, so it would be unfair for them to cover the costs for institutions...

What did you think of the protest that happened in MacLaurin Hall?

Not sure if we will end up adopting that aspect of the American system, but currently, poor people are still able to defer their payments. The fact that they are going to university means that they will have access to jobs after they graduate which will provide them with more than enough money...

What did you think of the protest that happened in MacLaurin Hall?

Yeah, it won't get that high. The biggest number I've seen mentioned for the cost of a degree as a whole is $120000 (including interest), and even that would be quite manageable for anyone to pay back over a number of years once you get a decent job under your belt. I don't see much problem...

What did you think of the protest that happened in MacLaurin Hall?

They weren't all socialists, they had the backing of the Student Representative Council which consist of Greens and Labor affiliated people as well. Tom Raue (SRC Vice-President and Greens member) was definitely there for instance (saw him on Twitter boasting about it afterwards), and many of...

What do to in uni? Ideas please!

I believe you can change your preferences for the Main Round up until January 7th. I'd do the UAC application as early as you can, and worry about preferences later on.

What do to in uni? Ideas please!

Hard to say, there are a number of options you could choose from that fit that description in one way or the other. You've still got a bit of time to look into courses and decide for yourself, but if you reach the stage when you have to decide and you are still not sure, it's probably best to go...

What's the best uni/course to teach visual arts?

Don't be fooled by the name of the degree, in general a Bachelor of Arts has nothing to do with actual art. You want to look for degrees with the word "visual" or "fine" in its name. Personally, if I were you, I'd be aiming for a Bachelor of Fine Arts/Bachelor of Education (Secondary) at...

which university in Sydney is the best for primary teaching????

Really? That's interesting. Looks like it really comes down to personal opinion, all the more reason for OP to go find out for herself. Wouldn't surprise me though, I had similar problems with their Mathematics and Physics departments when I was there. But then on the other hand, their...
