What's wrong with basic? I always thought basic is good. Its easier and shows you understand the concepts. Why make it harder than it needs to be. (my 2 cents)

it does have a commutator.. its just not as obvious.. on page 11 it says "Since the arms of the coil only have insulation on one half". i.e. meaning it will only conduct electricity through the wire every 180degrees.

umm they don't tell you a direction of the 300N? so you can't work out the components. but in general.. x component = magnitude cos angle y component = magnitude sin angle where angle is the angle made with the positive x axis

just to clarify.. your preliminary marks don't directly affect your hsc marks or uai.

its pretty accurate. think in terms of bands.. putting in marks of 70 means you think you will get a low band 4 (borderline of band 3 and band 4). If you (and your teachers) think thats about the band you will get, then that is about the uai you will get.

Yes that is right. They take your best 10 units of SCALED marks. Hence a HSC mark of 79 in economics could be counter over a HSC mark of 85 in Music 2, if the scaled mark fo economics actually came out better than the scaled mark of music 2. This is actually a benefit.

More people are choosing to do yr 11 and 12 instead of going of to tafe or work or whatever. As such the board keeps making courses easier so that these people can cope. I don't like it. I think that all the courses I did are too easy and should be made more difficult and more demanding. EDIT...

I haven't done the calcs so i don't know what the mark is, but note that identifying which exam mark was student A's makes no difference whatsoever to their moderated school assessment mark.

You are right. I can understand them blocking these forums simply because of non-school and Love and relationships.

i feel sorry for all the DET students who are having their education halted because of some silly extremely strict internet filtering policy that has gone too far.

Of course the marks you put into it are not your school assessment marks, but HSC marks.

no its not. its within probably +-0.50 UAI points for a given year. the only reason why its interpretation would be unreliable was if people think scaling was the same from year to year, which it is not. but it doesn't change very much. less than 2 UAI points at its worst. which is negligible.

I've noticed that some engg1811 people can't logout correctly (just some). they log into fluxbox or something, then run vm. they manage to logout of the xp vm, but not fluxbox. I jsut set the screen saver to come on after 10 mins or so, and to lock the screen. So if i ever forget to log out...
