Robbie, When you see the commandment 'thou shalt not murder' don't you think that's rather simplistic? I mean surely you'd support murder in some situations, right? What if murdering 1 man means that 100,000 more get to live? I'm sorry Robbie but the world is far more complicated than your God...

If God didn't want us to abort babies why'd he get the Romans to abort Jesus for him?

    Israel attacks Lebanon

I'm yet to believe these figures. Also, even if there's only been a handful of hezbollah deaths, wouldn't that mean (if they're targetting civilians) that hezbollah IS with the civilians? Anyway I don't buy it that Israel is purposely attacking civilians, I cannot see any possible logic to it.

    Israel attacks Lebanon

Yes but do you have any proof that they're targetting them? Hezbollah are a geurilla force that blends in with the population and more than likely makes up a large part of the population around that area.

A 'Senior united nations official' is not the voice of the united nations I'm afraid.

    Israel attacks Lebanon

Israel launches missiles against them. Israel kidnaps their soldiers/civilians. Hezbollah are essentially just shiite muslims fighting to protect their family/friends from what they see everyday as a threat. They genuinely help the people of lebanon where aid organisations and their own...

    Israel attacks Lebanon

Not really, maybe you think they are, but they're essentially playing by the books. Anyway my position is; - Hezbollah has a 100% right to defend the lebanese people from occupation or invasion by Israeli forces. - Hezbollah as an organisation deserves to remain in place. - Israel has a right...

    ALP to abolish full-fee places

Almost all of my friends went into the city for uni, they all still live out near me in penrith. Most of them went to UTS. On the other hand, I know alot of people that go to UWS that come from places much closer to the city... I think the main discriminating factor is UAI, not location :P

I'm somwhat jealous of people doing arts. I was going to do arts at sydney because quite a few of the philosophy units appealed to me, there's even a cross-study unit you can do that's also a part of theology which is about the existance of god, something you'd know from the other thread I'm...

    ALP to abolish full-fee places

Ar ok. Then I do agree with you, I do think it makes the degree seem less prestigious to have too many fee-based places. At the same time I think the degree would still be of the same quality if it was outcomes based.

    ALP to abolish full-fee places

I don't see how it's possible that full-fee places are of any detriment to CSP's, but ok. If they don't have the merit then they will fail their degree. Meanwhile, no one has been disadvantaged and the university has gained money so that (potentially) there can be more hecs students. I don't...

    ALP to abolish full-fee places

    - How does it cheapen the degree? They still have to meet the performance quotas that are set for everyone else... - These are the courses that fee paying students are likely to go for, no one wants to pay $100,000 extra a year to do a B.A. - The less full-fee students you have, the less...

However, the removal of that full fee paying student will mean that they both lose out.

    ALP to abolish full-fee places

Yeaaa... someone has to pay say $100,000 more than you, to get into a place a maximum of 5 uai points higher than what they originally had. That extra money meaning that there's (potentially) more uni spots for hecs paying students, thus u can potentially get in easier also.
