    Engineering without HSC Physics?

I actually disagree with this. MX2 just has mechanics in it really HSC Physics just has a low maths requirement. Some things actually are real Physics, just without the actual maths involved and as a result the questions in HSC are a bad indicator of what Physics actually can entail in further...

    Engineering without HSC Physics?

You would only need a decent background in HSC Physics if you were to do Electrical, Photovoltaic, Renewable, Telecommunications or Computer Engineering at UNSW (not sure about other universities, but for Electrical Engineering at least it would be helpful). Even then, it isn't a necessity...

Effect of electric fields on cathode rays

It would be "nicer" to use cathode rays in the context of experiments before they were found to be electrons. However I doubt you would ever lose marks for that.

CARS & RIDES & Mighty Car Mods

re: CARS & RIDES & Mighty Car Mods Can do very little damage to the transmission but you are going at really low speed (around 5 kph I hope) so it isn't much. You could alternatively chuck it in neutral and then do the final switch after a complete stop. Tbh with the car I drive, I just do a...

    FINS1613 summer school roll call

In saying that, you do need to put effort in if you want to hit the 80's and get on top of the cohort.

    FINS1613 summer school roll call

I'm almost tempted to trick Comm students into doing an Engineering gen ed now (albeit, ELEC1112 as a first level course) :p The fact that 1613 scales is just lol. I reckon a raw mark as a final mark might be a good idea for future years. It gives high expectations for first years and a reason...

    Maths celebration?

I only do this when my code works first go after assembling or if I get the answer correct to a question in Elec that takes over 30 minutes to do and 3+ pages of working that wasn't aids from tediousness. Also I kinda celebrate when I walk out of an exam feeling good as long as the exam wasn't...

    My jaw locked

Mine does that occasionally but it fixes after a few hours or a day or so at maximum. Usually I get mine then the jaw grinds against the rest of the skull really harshly with large movements then it starts clicking with every movement (big or small) for a bit of time. I can also make it click...

    UNSW Chit Chat Thread

Re: UNSW Chit Chat Thread 2015. You'll just have to get yourself drunk on BoS or at a meet then tell us everything. Opal run lol. Seriously who has the time to do that. I would do that only if I could catch a bus from Randwick campus to Kensington campus, which is a 15 minute walk any way.

    FINS1613 summer school roll call

To be fair, I haven't been to lectures in 4 weeks so now I just have one contact hour per week and put in little effort at home and still am doing ok. FINS1613 is nothing compared to everything else I study and the amount of hours I put into everything else. I doubt it's been made harder or...

Re: UNSW Chit Chat Thread 2015. I need a first name. I want to find out who you were crushing on haha. You build circuits, that can detect people clapping and stuff. You make spaghetti breadboards. You make a radio, etc. Btw that's not my final timetable. I have a better one lined up where I...

the 2 aussies getting execuated in Indonesia

I actually haven't bothered to follow the issue all that much, but originally I thought it was for something quite recent lol. It wouldn't make sense though why AFP wouldn't mind to hand them over, then the PM tries to get them back with such methods.

the 2 aussies getting execuated in Indonesia

The political position Joko is in has played a major role to influence the decision. The arrogance towards killing them has purely political motives. If he were to send them home and alive, imagine the impression this leaves on the law in Indonesia. This will make Joko and the Indonesian law...

    The UNSW Scaling Thread

I can't remember word for word as he said it in passing in the first lecture quite briefly. The only thing I eyed out was HD --> 10%. Can't remember DN exactly but it was either 15% or 25%.

    **URGENT**

I can't remember too well but with Shakespeare, I would say that he usually has a few characters which influence the main character (for example, the ghosts). So to add to your speech, you could argue with the main character being the one under influence and being a product of their time...

    The UNSW Scaling Thread

Lol but no-one gets all the HDs. The dean's award had only one Mining student and one Petroleum student this year. They do have significantly less people doing Mining and/or Petroleum, and hence contributing to a lower number, but there isn't a huge amount there that can skew the data to give...

    The UNSW Scaling Thread

At the start of sem, Tumarkin said he would give top 10% HD, then next 15% DN, then next 50% CR and the rest PS/FL or something like that. Not sure how much truth was in that though.
