    Study Timetable

Thanks :) However, what should you do when you actually study? Like, read through notes? Write them out? Do practice essays? I do not know how it is possible to do 6 or more hours of that! Are there any other more effective ways than the ones I just mentioned?

    Study Timetable

Just wondering, what are some study methods you guys use? Especially the people planning to do 8-10 hours...

    English is stupid

My two cents worth...Okay, some of you have said English is a subject you can bs your way through. And from my experience, this is mainly the case. I am a person who is often given to over analyzing and while it is hardly a good thing when it comes to life, in English it is an absolute blessing...

can i get forced to drop a subject?

They can 'strongly advise' for you to drop it no, I do not think they can force you.

What's everyone doing in the holidays?

I would like to think of myself immersed in books, dedicating my time to studying tirelessly, immune to to my friends' invitations to hang out and the temptations of the lazy sunny weather....but I know very well that's not going to happen.

    Tips to achieve 99.95?

The most useful tip I reckon is to work throughout the year and make achievable goals. I have seen so many people making grandiose plans when starting their HSC and then 'burning out'. This is exactly the thing that happened to me this year in Prelims. While I am sure there are people out there...

Lina, subjects and Atar aim in the description :)

    Subject Selections?!

I do physics. The work load is by no means unreasonable, however, there are quite a few formulas to remember. From what I have seen, the people who enjoy and do well in maths (as you seem to) are pretty much the people who ace physics.

Urgent question regarding Conservatorium entry!!! Please help

I am a somewhat competent pianist and will be doing my diploma next year. I have become aware of the fact that the Conservatorium only takes about 4 or 5 pianists every year. If this is the case, there is almost no chance for me as my skills are pretty typical for someone my age and are nothing...

    Dropping a subject

Aww Ancient History is pretty good actually...idk why it has such a bad rep overall....suppose it depends on the teachers though. Only passionate or at least very knowledgeable teachers can teach it properly because it is certainly NOT a textbook subject.

    Dropping a subject

Haha well it can be pretty dull...but the work load is relatively light if you compare it it 3U maths.

    Dropping a subject

I know this is probably the most commonly discussed and popular course on here, but I cannot wait to drop extension maths. The past three terms have been tolerable at best. Advanced is more than enough for me. I suppose it just took me pretty much all of high school to realize that I never had a...

    Year 12 Maths- 2U or Ext.1?

Personally, I am in a very similar situation. In term 1 I spent insane amounts of time on extension stuff and got 51%. This term I focused more on other things and got 38% in ext. On the other hand, 2U hasn't suffered at all despite relatively minimal effort (consistent marks in the 70%-80%...

Half yrly reports = big wake up call.

Hmm same here actually... my ranks so far are: Music 2: 1/5 Ancient: 1/30 English Adv: 1/ about 60 English Ext: 2/8 Physics: Not in the top 10/25 Maths Adv: 20th or 21st/65 Maths Ext: No idea but considering I failed my last exam (along with everyone except for 5 people) I doubt it's a good...

    Ext Eng. Villains

Hmmm the Crucible was my first suggestion.... the Monk by Matthew Lewis has a witch character in it if you are looking for a very traditional Gothic Novel. (I am assuming this is for the Gothic topic?)

What are you going to drop?

I am dropping Ext English and picking up Ext Music instead...but it's all a personal choice. I've heard that if you do an odd number of units, it's very unlikely for that 1 unit to go towards your ATAR...is this true??

Am i allowed to pick advanced english or standard english or do they offer it to u?

Re: Am i allowed to pick advanced english or standard english or do they offer it to I got 83% for my yearly and 94% in my SC...and I was still allowed to Extension English even though I never got a teacher to approve it LOL...d/w if you are non-selective they should be pretty chill about it

worst/best english novel you have ever read in school?

Well the concept is original but there are too many characters. It was a pain to analyze because, message wise, it was rather hollow. And I got my worst English essay mark to date on that darn report we had to do about it >< Thank God it was in yr 9 and did not really matter...
