4 unit english isn't really THAT subjective. We always get about 10 at 48 or above, for example, and average a bit above 46. 4 unit maths is great and all, but it doesn't help your ATAR at all unless you are not good at 10 units without it. And what subjects did your Newington friend get...

Depends how long you want to spend on your essay. I'm planning about 45 minutes, so probably 1300ish.

I know from our school Vallance got 99.95 without maths or sciences last year. Not doing maths doesn't hurt you at all.

Our top was 97.5, and we're a top 10 school. I doubt many can get over 100, if its marked properly (and judging on the difficulty of the exam. Ours looked tough, Sydney Boys looked really tough, Ascham was easy.) Anything over 100 should be a state ranking, judging on our school's past marks.

Top of Grammar was 112. Remember though that Lacy, who is in top 10 for Maths Olympiad only came 6th. And that Menzies got 114 last year and topped the state.

So basically, as a selective private school which is primarily self funded, grammar wins. :)

That's why you go to a private school where the results at the top are comparable to ruse but theres a heck of a lot less pressure. Plus you get a better social life. :haha:

About 25-35. Depending on what subject (eco you dont need to think as much, so i can get up to 35-40. mhistory and english you need to think more, so it goes down to 25-30.)

Does anybody know the standard of marks in the SAT? It's easy to tell what a good mark is in the HSC/UAI because its ranked, but I can't find out what SAT I or SAT II scores are worth.

I dont think its possible to memorise much for my subjects ... As much as people try, you can't really memorise essays for histories or english or economics. All you can try and do is memorise facts, but they give marks on the overall quality of work, and having more facts/quotes/details isnt...
