Do you mean you plan to take 9cp of ancient history units and 3cp worth of electives? If so, then yes, you would have 12cp under your belt by second year and would be free to take 200 lvl ENGL units with 12cp pre-requisites.

'12cp' refers to exactly that, 12cp from anywhere, not just english units. Whatever is in the handbook is what is available, units are added once in a while, but not often. If you didn't want to do ENGL120 you could pick two 200lvl ENGL units that do not require it, such as...

You don't necesarily need ENGL120 to do ENGL309 (depending on the units you take). Not all 200 lvl ENGL units require ENG120, again, make sure you check the handbook carefully before planning your units =]
