New Students: What to do after receiving your offer

Firstly, congratulations on receiving an offer to study at Macquarie, it’s an awesome university and the Ubar is just fantastic, so rest assured you really have made a good choice. The process of independent degree planning starts right here, right now… 1. You must accept your offer...

I did already explain how to do this, but i'll post it again: Once you have picked your units, go to the timetable site: https://timetables.mq.edu.au/2012/ Here you simply pick the relevant semester (to the left of the page, either session 1 or session 2) enter the code of your unit, enter...

Doesn't count till you've been really screwed by them First years can't enrol in units until they receive academic advice on campus, after you get academic advice you'll be enrolled on the spot, your job is just to have your units picked out and your preferred tutorial/lecture times chosen...

    Cheap Textbooks

Co-op is expensive and is really for people who leave their textbook buying till the last minute. For those of you who don't yet know of these two websites, you can thank me later when you're crying with happiness over your delicious amounts of beautiful, saved money. http://booko.com.au/...

I'm sure some do but it's a bit of an odd question... not everyone's major will be the same (even if they are doing the same major) since there are options built into the requirements of majors. It's not really a matter of whether some majors have more exam/assessments than others but whether...

I don't get what you're asking.. Most units will have a final exam, some don't, some units have several exams throughout semester, some don't. So say i take 4 units semester 1 and 4 units semester 2, (providing all of these units assess with a final exam) i will have eight exams over the...

You could e-mail the course convener for ASTR170 and see if it uses i-lecture, if it does you could go to your PHYS188 workshop and just listen to the missed ASTR170 lecture later.

Have you seen this page? http://www.student.mq.edu.au/enrol/undergrad.htm#step1 It takes you through what you need to be doing to prepare for enrolment. And no worries, i'm sick at home today so it's nice to feel useful.

No difference, at uni 'subjects' are called units.

One final thing, not sure if you have this already but this is the form that you should fill in and bring to academic advice/enrolment. If you have this filled in when you arrive you won't have to wait around for ages. http://www.student.mq.edu.au/enrol/new/advice/pdf/Proposed%20Program%20Form.pdf

Haha, this is the thing about uni, now you do everything yourself =p It's good to do 100 lvl units in your first year since they're the easiest and don't have many (if any) pre-requisites. It's not really to your detriment if you save a couple for later on if you don't need them as...

OH one more thing, when picking your units make sure you also pay attention to the pre-requisites, if you haven't met these you can't take the unit. You can find the pre-requisites of a unit underneath the 'when offered' section on a unit page.

Hiya, first of all stop stressing, at the moment all you need to do is plan your timetable so that when you go into uni and get your academic advice/enrol it will be a quick and easy affair and you'll hopefully get the tutorial times you want. No one (not even continuing students) has actually...

B.Arts/B.Anc students: How is my draft timetable?

Ok, so first of all i notice that in your second semester you are planning to take 6 units. The normal workload for a full time student is 4 units a semester, not only would 6 units of study be EXTREMELY difficult to keep up with (let alone get good marks in) you probably won't be able to do it...

If you look up AHIS120 in the handbook you can see that next to 'when offered' it says 'D2 - Day; Offered in Session 2, North Ryde '. Session 2 here means semester 2. http://www.handbook.mq.edu.au/2012/Units/UGUnit/AHIS120 Since not everything is available all the time it's important to pay...

What, AHIS110 or AHIS120? AHIS120 only runs in semester 2 and while AHIS110 (which does run in semester 1) is an awesome unit, i wouldn't take it unless you have an interest in Rome.
