What multiple documents support the existence of Jesus AS THE PERSON YOU BELIEVE HE IS. There were many of his time who went around saying he was Jesus. It is only the bible that claims the existence of God and Jesus as the son of God.

theology and science are 2 different things

can i believe that both are tru.. yes
and i do this happily ...

theology- is my beliefs about my purpose/direction in life.. jesus is son of god, holy trinity etc etc .. this dictates my ethics
science - wat happend?.. this dictates how i view the mechanisms of the world..

why we associate the 2 together?.. its because we think that they explain our world.. and up till modern science in 1500's- 1600's religion did it well...
why do i believe? because in all sciences/maths there is a missing gap and some things we just unable to simplify that we can understand..... uncertainty is a big one and we prove in all things that we can do there will always be gaps..

as you explained... before the 1500's or so religion explained everything,
people used to think the world was flat, and that gods brought up the sun... what's the difference now?

we realise now that there was more to the past than just humans..
i take the history in bible as a metaphorical expression of the past..

it is lik a guide book to how to live a good fulfilling life rather than a historical text (to some extent it is..) hence to me its still relevant..
its totally up to u.. if u choose to believe it and i dun believe in forcing others to believe wat i think.. i hav to study science everyday.. and especialli in medicine and physics there is soo much we do not kno or understand. i feel something else is out there, watchin over us.. its a pretti strong hunch.. in science nothin objectively forms our ethical decisions .. for me religion forms them thru yrs of human experiences..

I agree with you.
Alot of the stuff in the bible is good to live by, however i think these morals would have existed with or without religion
thats the thing.. without consequences many morals may not be followed by ppl.. at present we hav laws.. religion has formed a basis for laws..in religion they are stricter and meaningful.. i kno that certain things from religion make me more content with my life...

i feel that if i didnt hav a purpose, my life is just a large collection of cells.. a hopeless cause..

yer i just kno that in my life i hope we can all be good n considerate to one another.. forgiveness for mistakes and understanding..

.. weather u choose to follow it is up to u.. like i sed theology is separate from science.. but IMO dinosaurs and jesus can both exist happily..

No.. atheists believe in no god and they still follow laws.

How do atheists find meaning?
"Have you ever built a snowman?" After all, snowmen are ephemeral objects, soon to be melted in the sun. A snowman has no ultimate purpose or goal, and in a few weeks there will be no trace of it's ever existing. We build snowmen because all of us, theists and atheists, live here and now. In the context of our own brief mortal lives, we are able to enjoy this life and gain pleasure from ultimately pointless acts. It is fun to build a snowman, or climb a mountain, or watch the sunset, or go for a long cycle ride in the countryside. The purpose of these things is not "out there" somewhere, waiting to be achieved - the meaning is in what it means to ourselves. I am not overly concerned about some future fifty billion years from now, but I am concerned about the future of humanity here, now and for the generations that follow. That is the context of a mortal life, and that is why I "bother" to live and damn well have fun while I'm doing it.

There is no meaning to life itself. There is no purpose to the universe. You can, however, give life meaning through your actions. Make the world a better place for yourself, your contemporaries and your descendents.

Morality is indepedant from religion, whether you believe in God or not

well thats fine...
doesnt meant tat since i dun get a kick for chocolate icecream means that i think its evil?

im saying in MY life i found greater meaning in believing that an external force exists..
atheists follow the law.. im just saying that the law where we do not kill and commit harm has its basis in religion.. just a comment :D.. it wasnt supposed to be taken further

gain pleasure from ultimately pointless acts
i guess thats just me .. its not my cup of tea.. i dun diss other religions/belief unless they do some thing that hurts others and makes them selfish ppl...but thats a fine line..
.. its just ive got strong convictions about my beliefs .. that for ME.. u cannot justify atheism

//edit: not-that-bright tats a nice story to talk about atheism
