Well there is actually scientific proof to support the Bible which says the Earth has been around for only a few thousand years (and I'm not going to list it all you can research it yourself). I'll give one example - something about the dust on the moon, and if we really have been here for millions of years the thickness of the "moon dust" should have meant that people who have landed on the moon would have sunk!

And there are obscure mentionings of dinosaurs in the Bible, or at least animals that don't exist now. I am not sure on the exact locations in the Bible but I know they are there (and I am not talking about the creatures in Revelations).

So whereas scientists have their "proof", so do Christians.

Only a few thousand years despite the fact that a number of other religions predate today's christianity?

I gather it goes that one day for God is not equal to one day for humans...

Christianity comes from Judaism, the only difference (I think) is that the Jews don't believe that Jesus was the Messiah.

Yes I did, today's Christianity comes from Judaism. So Christianity is the people who were Jewish but believed Jesus was the messiah, descendants of the oldest religion.

bah all these religions all preaching their one and only god figure... or their several gods + dieties. No wonder alot of people would rather be atheists and agnostics.

and the more you argue with a christian the harder set in their ways they seem to become (and the more fun it is to tear to shreds their beliefs)!

Well if you can "tear to shreds their beliefs" then they weren't really a good Christian. I don't have all the answers because I am not a minister or someone who studies the Bible. But I do know that there are too many coincidences, miracles etc for it to be wrong.
I don't care what anyone says, I believe in God, I am a Christian, and no ridicule or anything will change that.

Genisis can be taken in a poetic context. The main fact is that the universe was created by God, the 'how' is irrelevant.

ive said it before, ill say it again, find me hard, solid evidence that totally blows evolution out of the water, even to the most devout biologists, and perhaps i will contemplate going with it...but until then, i believe creationism is a complete load of crap.

So do many Christians...but the point is that it's not the make or break issue of Christianity...neither is what certain prominent cristians believe.

Obviously if you it can be torn to shreds then their faith (regardless of religion) wasn't that strong in the first place. But it shows that the more stubborn people get about what they believe in the less strength their belief has because it can 'shatter' or be torn up by someone.. anyone who can get on the right topic. If your faith can't deal with change, then you are obviously much more vulnerable than someone who's ideas on their religion change not only with their growth but with the growth and change of society.. thats how religions should be and thats how you get long lasting true religions (in contrast to those who stay grounded in the same biases and same flaws they've always had and continue to develop more and more until it all falls apart).

Faith is good, change is good and both can coincide quite happily. Its just a shame some people can't see that. They are the downfall of faith and religion alike.

"The chance that higher life forms might have emerged in this way is comparable with the chance that 'a tornado sweeping through a junk yard might assemble a Boeing 747 from the materials therein'."

Sir Fred Hoyle (English astronomer, Professor of Astronomy at Cambridge University), as quoted in "Hoyle on Evolution". Nature, vol. 294, 12 Nov. 1981, p. 105

And Christianity is not all about proof, it's about faith and belief.
And remember something - it is the THEORY of evolution. If evolution was what really happened it wouldn't be called a theory.

You say that it can't cope with change? Unless I'm readin your post incorrectly.

Take a look at many of the modern Church's such as Hillsong or Christian City they are very into change. Hillsong for example is one of the most technically advanced fixed rigsin NSW, and CCC in Oxford Falls is pretty advanced as well.
These Church's and many others change with the times (without changing the beliefs and things written in the Bible of course), by keeping up to date with media and how "the world" attracts people.

Sorry for intruding on this delightfully bigoted and extremely pointless conversation, but I would like to just point out that you couldn't tear your way out a paper bag. I cite your "ripping apart" of Christianity thus far in this thread as an example.

yes...base your life on faith of something that has so many holes...and performs a number of other unintentional negative impacts...one of which is discrimination...another way to discriminate against people...anyother religion that endorses monoculture

having faith in something means that you actually acknowledge that its full of shit...but you faith in it...you decide to believe in it anyways

Just like people who are non-Christians, some discriminate and most don't! It is unfair to say that all Christians are discriminatory and prejudiced, just like it would be unfair to say that all non-Christians are prejudiced.
