should i go for a mod c poem? if the prompt is good for it
I would definitely not recommend doing soley a poem. Mainly because of how well crafted it has to be. Obviously in 40/45 mins (or however much you allocate to mod c) NESA isnt expecting you to have a fully fleshed out perfect piece. The big problem with a poem in my opinion is that it heavily relies upon some sort of deep, well thought out meaning. Not only do you
not have the time to refine the piece to make each part/line purposeful, impactful and symbolic, you also have to remember you're competing with everyone else in the state who is writing 800 - upwards of 1000 words for a creative AS well as the fact that you have to bank on the marker actually understanding your poem's deep meaning, which usually comes at a cost of time and analysis. The problem with that is the
markers don't have time (ive heard from past hsc markers they spend like
5 minutes a script) either to critically analyse your poem. Even if there is a reflection where you can explain some of your symbolism and whatever, in my opinion I think its a bad idea to do a poem.
This is also in part what I've heard from my teachers as well. But at the end of the day your choice to make
