Re: Do you believe the govt should set a minimum quota for women on boards? #funny thread filled with Sathius haters. By the way, I doubt anyone here has committed a ban-able offence.

    Course Recommendation.

Does anyone here recommend an attempt at a double degree of: B Electrical Engineering/ B Science (Chemistry) OR B Electrical Engineering/B Science (Mathematics) The reason why I'm interested in the Electrical/Chemistry is because I am really interested in doing Engineering, but I also...

    Galvanic Cell

Hi, can someone please explain what is happening if the electrolyte is NaCl? If the Metal is more reactive than Sodium, then the metal will go into solution (the metal electrode is the anode) and the Sodium will deposit onto the cathode which is the graphite electrode. What is the redox...

    UWS Bonus Points ...

You get 5 bonus points automatically for admission to UWS if you are in the region specified by UWS. EAS needs an application which you should have filled in about 2 months ago. I think there may be a possibility that late admissions may be available for EAS. So yes, regional points are...

    Are textbooks a necessity?

Physics 2 by Jacaranda is the same. If only all textbooks were like Chemistry Contexts.

    Is Extension 2 worth it?

If this is your mentality, then definitely do 4U for as long as possible and try to do well and check your progress from in class exams.

Should I drop down to 10 units?

This is what happened to me with economics. However, I did not consider economics an ATAR backup much. Instead, I decided to keep it just in case I needed it further in life at one stage, and that some simple stuff is related to my future uni interests. I guess ancient is one of those subjects...

    Are textbooks a necessity?

Textbooks, past-papers and notes are all necessary. Make your own notes though. However I found that while doing past-papers and reading over BOS answers in the 2 months before HSC, meant that my notes were useless for Physics, Chemistry and the exercises I did for Maths. For Eco, I never did...

    final guesstimate

Yes that's true. I think he did crap but hid it. After all he was playing mine-craft just before HSC and I think he didn't study. That year was a crap cohort in general after what my teacher's told me. That's the thing though, my teachers tell me I should get over 90, but after what happened...

    Year 11 subject choice questions

Why are you doing SLR. Isn't that a non-ATAR course? Just do Chemistry instead. I did 13 units for prelim and that consequently got me year 11 first place. I still did 12 units for HSC as well. Then I would strongly suggest you try to pick up 4-unit maths (Just try hard and you can get there)...

    final guesstimate

The guy doing the same subjects as me gets first place in year 12. Walks out of every exam like: "Smashed it, 95+" Nek minnit gets everything as band 4's and a 79 ATAR. The most humiliating thing, 5 others got higher ATAR's than him. My school is ranked in the 600's.

What is polarity in a galvanic cell?

Easiest way to remember that: electrons flow from negative to positive, which is from anode to cathode.

    final guesstimate

I disagree because of English, Modern and IT. Also, the school rank is very low which may be a drag in modern and English. 93 is max. I'd say by those raws, around 87. By school rank and stuff, due to what happened last year to "the cream of the crop" in our school, its possible to get as low...

    Should've dropped maths...what now?

Content in 2-unit maths isn't all that bad. If you have very good calculus and geometry skills then you will be fine. Also, the series stuff and the probability are not that bad. in 2-unit, you can get a high band 5 or low band 6 by doing all the questions in your textbook comfortably and...
