How do you differentiate y^2=4ax ?

If you are only doing 3-unit, you don't need implicit differentiation. Btw, I'm not sure if you are allowed to use it in the HSC exams unless its the ext.2 paper. Not sure on this though. Can someone clarify?

HSC Inspiration - Your School Rank Doesn't Matter

This is true. That is the only reason why some students don't get the 99.95, but instead manage a 96+. But then again, I was surprised with my 96+ simply because I didn't think I put the same amount of effort as others. I thought people who got 96+ were those who did more than 6 hours per...

    Chemistry question help pleaseeeeeee

You need to find how many kilojoule's of energy are released and how many moles of carbon dioxide are produced. To do this, you must write a balanced chemical equation for each reaction. For example, with Octane: 2C_8H_18_{(g)} + 25O_{2(g)} \rightarrow 16CO_2_{(g)} + 18H_2O_{(g)} $+ energy$...

    Accelerated subjects

Yeah this. Any student can accelerate a subject at any school. If the school itself does not offer the class, then the student may do accelerated courses at a different school or in their own time.

    quick question, regarding syllabus prelim

Jacaranda preliminary was much better than HSC Jacaranda. I used Jacaranda as my primary textbook for HSC and got a 92 exam mark. What I did was read the syllabus dot points, then the information given, then do a detailed summary for the dot point (about one or two pages). Also, Jacaranda...

    Accelerated subjects

It's not exactly cheating. The students still have to study the same amount of time, or sometimes more than other students in the state with the same mark. As D94 said, the school rankings are unofficial. An accelerated student for maths, bear in mind usual ends up doing 12+ units for HSC, so...

Done. I'm not a student of UNSW yet, but I thought I would just do the survey any way. I put the student id as "none".

    Uws engineering or Macquarie engineering

Have you looked at UoW, maybe UTS (if you get enough bonus points) or UoN? Those uni's are said to be better than mac or UWS in enginering.

    What happened???

You missed the point that enoilgam was trying to make. He was just trying to warn Haya not to do the same in uni, and thus learn from his mistakes. After all, this is what the thread was originally started for.

Strange things about 2013 HSC results

Its a fib. Anything to do with school rankings is a fib. School rankings don't affect your ATAR. And plus, if the exams are hard, they are aligned to give the appropriate mark.

    Which is easier?

Yeah this. The same thing goes for all subjects relative to English. The only reason why English is compulsory is because the performance of the cohort of each subject determines the specific subjects "difficulty". The reason why MX2 scales really well and gives good aggregates is because...

    Extracurricular Topics

Thanks! I'm hoping that others come to understand the great scheme of things in terms of Chemistry. With HSC Chemistry, you can apply all the knowledge to everyday situations. Unfortunately, I can only say the same for half of the HSC Physics syllabus.
