    UNSW Law internal transfer

Not sure if you'll get any answers on a close cut-off however I would encourage you to apply and wait it out. It still depends on demand and spots available every year so you could get unlucky one year and be rejected while having a high WAM or be lucky another year and get accepted with a lower...

Post your results and wam thread (s2/14)

Definitely check it out if it seems worthwhile. I guess I'm getting what I predicted as my worst to middle case scenario at the moment, so can't complain. EDIT: Come to think of it now, its possible one of my courses hasn't obtained a mark yet so its possible that I may get a decrease or...

    Quick Question

When the rocket expels its gases, the gases will gain a momentum. Through the Law of Conservation of momentum, the rocket will gain momentum in the opposite direction of equal magnitude to the momentum of the gases. Force is the rate of change in momentum. As the rocket becomes lighter as...

Question about Galvanic cells with an inert conductor

In regards to using a multimeter (in your experiment you should only use the voltmeter option on the multimeter), you can get a positive or negative reading depending how you connect up your multimeter to the electrodes. Black/Negative goes to anode, and Red/Positive goes to the cathode. The...

Post your results and wam thread (s2/14)

A fair few amount of people I know have not had their's updated yet (despite doing the exact same courses as me both sems at the exact same times) so it seems to be stuffing up for some people. In my opinion, it might not be the best indicator and its better to wait until official final results...

My bad was referring to final marks. My WAM is updated and by the looks of things I'm happy with this sem despite bombing a final :)

Post your results and wam thread (s2/14)

Enough of the trolling. Results officially come out in a week's time. However feel free to post in regards to provisional results (under the discretion of the relevant course convenors) for the time being.

How to get the Tutorials you like?

Use the UNSW class utilisation page to find the courses which you want to do and look through to see which timeslots you prefer for your lectures, tutorials and if applicable laboratories/other classes. https://my.unsw.edu.au/classutil/ Also, you can use Octangles/Rectangles/Bojangles/Circles...

    RIP Phil Hughes

One of the biggest tragedies to hit the cricket world and also the rest of the extended sporting world. A case unheard of and unfortunately it happened to a young man doing what he loved best. Rest in Peace Phil Hughes and thoughts go out to his close family and friends. Also poor Sean...

    UNSW Sem 2 Finals Thread

Only just missed DN for comp. Only just missed HD for higher maths. Oh well I expected those results after the finals I guess. I did walk out of maths quite disappointed so yeah understandable. Solid effort though given other commitments I had this semester :)

Difference between high school maths and university engineering maths

This too. There are different courses for maths which different engineers have do. Electrical Engineers will do quite different maths in second year compared to most other Engineers.

    2014 COMP finals thread.

I think from the 2013s2 site Blair announced provisional marks. I'm predicting if we do, they will come first thing next week, or we might just have to wait until Friday.

Need clarification for an acceleration-time graph on a rocket launch.

This. The rocket uses fuel and as a result the mass of the rocket decreases slowly. Also at the same time, as you get further and further away from the Earth's surface, the gravitational force exerted by the Earth on the rocket slowly decreases, meaning that the rocket will be able to accelerate...

    UNSW Sem 2 Finals Thread

I checked yesterday and the maths portal was down. When I logged on tonight I actually thought they were already up and hence why it was down yesterday but nup... Maybe midnight launch then?

Difference between high school maths and university engineering maths

Its moreso that the type of maths you do is quite different. The workload does slightly increase as you have a shorter amount of time to get through the syllabus compared to high school, but personally I find the work more interesting in uni. As for the difference, in uni the definitions and...

    1st Year University Mathematics Thread

    I'll try it again now. EDIT: Got this now: \frac{du}{dx} + e^u = \cos x Keep going around in circles getting more and more ODE's which I can't solve with these substitutions :haha: Updating my substitutions so far lol: u = ln y u = 1/y sqrt(u) = y u = dy/dx y = du/dx Every single time I...
