It would be useful at uni to have quick boot up times. However "a few minutes later" is kinda overkill. Usually an SSD boot would be like 20 or 30 seconds seconds shorter, not a few minutes. I disagree. You can get a 2 TB HDD for the same price as a 120 GB SSD. That is not "incredibly cheap"...

Oh right. So then it should be much, much better from now.

I really don't get why they can't do this for semester one though. Or is it just that semester two is an easier fix than semester one in terms of volumes of people.

Re: UNSW Chit Chat Thread 2015. The resume one was good. The work experience one for Engineering was also good but I took it really lightly back then as I wasn't all that interested.

Depends on the day, time of semester, etc. First few weeks, expect around 30 minutes. Then it should slowly die off as less people start coming to uni early. Semester two is pretty cool. Most likely you'll get on the next bus straight away after the 3rd week.

I still encourage non-UNSW'ers to come if they want to.

Wait I just noticed that you might have misinterpreted what an SSD is. SSDs are internal only. They aren't like external HDDs that you can use separately like how you intend to use one on the go. Well you should give a big thought about this in the first place as to what you are going to use...

No he means 3 days as in skip all lectures and only attend 12 contact hours per week. I usually take train and bus time as rest time. Does me well in the afternoons. However in the mornings I tend to do a lot of reading on the train.

Nah last year was insane. It did die down but I still had to wait around 10 minutes at Central by Week 6. This. First 2 weeks, expect a 30+ minute wait at Central in line at around 8:15 onwards until 9.

Sem 2 you walk out of Central and straight away are on a bus. Uni isn't for the faint hearted I believe :lol:

Nah trust me for semester two, either you go to Central or one other station or you are doing it wrong. You can always try Town Hall too for the M50s. Then again, Town Hall and Museum are like 5 to 10 minutes away walking.

Try a surface or macbook air. How will you be using it? What types of things will you be running on it? A good laptop is one that suits your needs best. Also, with external hard drives, you can shop around with that. Generally, out of trust for quality, WD and Seagate are the way to go with...

Good responses here. Museum in the mornings is not too busy. Buses will come every 10 or 15 minutes or so which can take you to UNSW. However there are times where the buses there have been full and you have to wait for the next one.
