    Scholarships

If you have the time, give the application a go any way. You might be able to get something out of it (whether it be some sort of feedback or possibly a scholarship).

    SOMS supplementary exams

Supplementary exams can vary from course to course. Really it's up to the conveners. I suggest you send an e-mail now only if you are definitely missing the exam. If you have the opportunity to sit the exam, sit the exam; then after the exam if you don't feel confident enough that you passed...

Thoughts on wearing a white suit to formal?

Invest your money in something you can use for the long term (so if it has to be a suit, go for something practical in the long term which you can re-use again and again for various different types of occasions).

    Scholarships

Have you looked at the appropriate scholarship sites for the uni's you are considering? If yes, have you had a look at the corresponding co-op scholarships on offer? https://scholarships.online.unsw.edu.au/scholarship/sc_search.login http://www.coop.unsw.edu.au/future_students/index.html...

    Logs

You could make it ln (648) but that's just being pedantic and I'm sure either answer would be fine in a test as long as it didn't ask to simplify/express to a single expression.

UNSW Sem 1 Final Exams Thread

Have not finished a few syllabuses but should be fine in a week's time. Feeling pretty worried for Friday as I have no idea what we are getting.

    URGENT - J J Thomsons experiment

When calculating the charge to mass ratio, you need to look at the potential energy and kinetic energy of the electrons, while also keeping in mind the radius of curvature of the path they followed. Using: qvB = \frac{mv^2}{r} you can find the charge to mass ratio as: \frac{q}{m} =...

Electrical Engineering University of Sydney to Electrical Engineering UTS with fails

Re: Electrical Engineering University of Sydney to Electrical Engineering UTS with fa Check the requirements that UTS has to accept external transfers. Also, have you talked to someone who can help you with your situation? I think every uni also offers student services to help guide people who...

    They are coming

Do tutorial questions and look at what was covered in terms of content. Past papers (especially sample papers for this) don't necessarily mean they will exactly represent your final exam. You should ask your course convener or lecturer in charge whether they are a good indicator of difficulty...

    My Romantic Day

I read "you will have to find me" and this song was playing on the radio and then I just lost it when I heard the lyrics "find me" EDIT: I'm losing it again because the same song popped up on another channel after it just finished on the other :haha:

    relying on finals to carry

Pretty much this from my experience. However some courses might only scale one component (say a final exam) then add up all the marks or do some other random thing to what the course convenors think is appropriate.

Does red P's test actually go for a full 45 mins??

Mine was about 40-50 mins. It took a while to find the correct spots to cover everything he wanted to test me on.

    relying on finals to carry

Yeah finals are worth quite a bit so of course they can jump your mark up if you do well. In saying that, finals could be easy or hard so it depends on the course.

The congruency effect: Study shows walking can boost your math abilities

Don't have to walk. Just get your mind off it with something time consuming and come back to the idea fresh. That's one of the reasons why I play sport regularly.

Estimate the length of Harbour Bridge???

I doubt that they are looking for a particular "magic number". They are probably looking for the process you took to get to the answer and whether your approach is correct or not. Also they will most likely consider a specific range of values (so if you answered something between 500 m and 2 km...

Are exam marks scaled at MQ?

At UNSW it varies from course to course. Some give you your outright raw mark back, some downscale, some scale to moderate how many students get a specific band and some have outright juicy scaling. Might be a similar story at other universities.

Girl at school technically cheating on all her assessments... what do?

The concerning thing is that she might be gaining an unfair advantage to half of her HSC. When it comes to HSC, if what you are saying is true, then the whole class will be disadvantaged in the end unfortunately. However if what you are saying is true, then she'll learn her lesson after high...

threatened to be fired for using my own keyboard and mouse??

Well you could get RSI with the crappy keyboards and mouse and still make a legal threat out of it, so you can argue your point there that regardless they already have that threat to deal with. IT security however I'm not too sure about. They might use different types of keyboard stuff for...
