    Special HSC Prize

My parents were gonna buy me a laptop, but I got impatient and bought myself one (hey I worked hard for it!). Now I get a trip to Adelaide to visit my friend, a trip to New Zealand (I've gotta have my own spending money though), and my accommodation, food, uni fees etcetera paid for next...

    Not being realistic.

Well, ideally, I want 90. But a goal is just that... something to WORK towards. There's no point saying, "I'm aiming for over 30." Because then I've got nothing to work for! I'll be ok as long as I get over 84.

just wondering, what's your uai goal range & course preference?

I was aiming for over 90, but am seriously doubting that now. I'm going to uni overseas, so I don't need it desperately - UAI doesn't actually matter (as long as I get over 84!). But I know I'll be disappointed if I don't get it.

has your stomach grumbled in any of your exams?

Ha... during my trials, I was writing so hard I ripped the skin off the side of my hand, and bled all over my maths exam. Serves them right... I hated maths. And as for hunger... yep. No matter how much I eat before my exam, my stomach rumbles. I think it just doesn't like the idea of not...

    Related Texts for Postmodernism

"The Eyre Affair" by Jasper Fforde "Dead Doll Humility" by Kathy Acker And I'd prepared to do Kill Bill, but decided to do the other two in more detail rather than briefly mention three, seeing as it didn't specify number of texts.

    Module B - Creative Writing

(Pomo) I wrote a short story. It was so unbelievably stupid. Basically I took some of the characters from my texts, and several philosophers, and threw them into, "The void that occurs when no one is reading the texts." But it wasn't very structured... at all... so I'm scared I'll lose marks...

    Module B - Elective 2: Postmodernism (Essay)

I liked the question... didn't have a pre-prepared essay (for once), but I knew the texts. Did anyone else directly refer to the picture? 'Cos I briefly wrote what (I thought) the pic was trying to say, but then other people in my class said they didn't.

is anyone else feeling hopelessly lost & intimidated???

This exam scares me just because there's so many things they could ask and I can't figure out a definite 'pattern' in the past questions, trial papers, etc. So I can't just learn an essay and adapt it to suit the question. (Damn!) Oh well... after Friday... no more postmodernism. Yay!

Wuthering Heights - how did we go

I did two critical readings... had three prepared, but got part way through my essay and thought, "Ok, I've fucked this up majorly. I'm just going to give up on WH and hope I can do a bit better in Frontline." Worst novel ever written.

    Hardest Question?

DAMN STRAIGHT! I actually found question 9 hardest, but I ran out of time to properly do 9 and 10. Oh well... too late to care now!

    HSC SCAVENGER HUNT!

I managed to smuggle out a writing book from Maths. Nothing fantastic, but oh well. The attachment thing doesn't want to work, so just click this... http://www.geocities.com/skittlebrau08/scan.jpg

Who ate Wheat-Bix beofre the exam?

I admit I ate weet-bix before the exam. Not because I'm a complete sucker for advertisements but simply because it's quicker than actually trying to cook something. Then I had berocca.

What Shoudl We Do With The Question Papers?

I'm having a barbeque. I reckon food'll taste better when it has been cooked by years of hard work. (ha)

How the hell can you do prose for Mod B!!!

Amen. I has a fantastic essay for this... got 19/20 for it in my trials. It was meant to be my best module but I completely fucked it up. In the end I wrote two readings and wrote a couple of lines on how the context of the people making Marxist and postcolonial readings affected their...

    i HATE king lear

I did Wuthering Heights rather than Lear... but I found that whole question AWFUL. I just made two readings then wrote about half a page on how it could be interpreted differently depending on who is the person interpreting it and their context and... yeah. That's about all I wrote. I'm just...

Module B - Critical Study of Texts

Same... I'm so worried now. I just mentioned at the end how investigating other interpretations showed me that different contexts (etc) altered how it would be received. And that was it. It took about half a page. I'M SO FUCKED!
  19. skittlebrau

Confess, again. How many pages did you write?

Section I: About 14 pages Section II: 10 Section II: About 13.

Module B - Critical Study of Texts

That's what I assumed. Wuthering Heights was my best in trials yet I managed to totally stuff it up today. Woo... go me.
