What I usually do is look at the learning objectives for each lecture and write my notes according to it by using other sources as well and not just limiting myself to the lecture/tutorial/practical material and textbook.
There are sites which sell student notes and some students sell their notes along with the secondhand textbook (check out the student flyers on campus).
I'll add to flashyGoldFish by saying that it would help if you made your own notes:
1. It's your notes and you'll understand them.

Late March. Disappointed by the fact that there is only a small TV screen for guests to watch the ceremony on from the outside - I was hoping for a projected screen. Everyone huddled around that one small TV hahaha.
Check under assessments for the short writing task instructions? It will be in a folder with a similar name.
Unit Coordinator and main lecturer will be Francis... forgot her last name.
What happened to the Carslaw Coffee Cart? Had to walk back to Laneway... SMH.
Also the Dentistry and Pharmacy students graduated today. So get use to seeing graduate students walk around (and also the flowers and gift bearers) every Friday between 9-4 until May. PLUS the carillons will play...
Different units have a different set up on Blackboard so I can't give you one definitive answer on how to access your unit outline but generally when you log in your units are listed, click on the unit of interest and on the left tab see if you can find the contents link that will take you to...
Depends. It's a first year lecture so they may also teach you how to use the library website and how to cite and use references (every unit/faculty is different - some use Harvard Referencing, Footnotes, AMA etc.) but you should be able to catch on pretty easy and referencing is usually taught...
Have you checked your outline under the sub heading of assessments to see if you have any quizzes for certain units? First week lectures are introductory lectures which will tell you what the assessments are, who your unit coordinator is, how to access content etc. so yes, it is kinda important.
You should email the unit coordinartor and sort out the tutorial changes - most of the time they will make the exception for class changes. The assisted timetable won't be able to override the system if the classes are already full.

EDIT: Oh and I should also suggest the Conservatorium of Music if you're willing to travel there - check out and listen to the free performances they have. :D
It's fine to feel anxious but this is just your first week - you're in first year and overwhelmed with the information thrown at you. Try and form study groups and don't be afraid to contact your tutors or lecturers if you don't understand the content. Once you get into the habit of writing...
Check the subject/unit outline via Blackboard. It will tell you the due date and the tutors and lecturers will usually mention the assessment and talk about in detail two weeks before the due date.
Lecture, tutorial and seminar materials will be on Blackboard for you to view; check it for...
The free/unrestricted parking is usually full quite early but you can try Arundel Street; otherwise there is parking along City Road (I think it is up to 4 hours though) and limited on-campus parking as well as Broadway.
Co Op Bookstore or the Union Store at the Wentworth Building. The lecturer will tell you what's needed in each course hopefully in the first lecture or you can ask your tutors/lab demonstrators.
Edit: http://www.usu.edu.au/Shop/Lab-Coats-Equipment.aspx#1491 and I should also mention that if you...
