    UAC applications open

Nah, I'm looking at pursuing a career in astronomy, so a physics major should be good for that. I had considered doing aerospace engineering at USYD for a little bit, and while it certainly sounds interesting I don't think it would be much benefit, especially in an Australian context.

Hmmm OK. That's not so bad. Still leaning towards USYD but I guess UNSW is another option as well.

    UAC applications open

It's still closer. Though I admit I thought it would take much longer than 20 minutes, with traffic and all.

I haven't ruled out UNSW, USYD was just closer and I've been to USYD enough times that I feel comfortable there. I know next to nothing about UNSW. I'll see what I think after the Open Days.

My ideas of what I want to do change every couple of weeks, so I'll probably be editing my preferences a lot :) Currently I'm looking at doing Arts/Science (Advanced or Advanced Mathematics) at USYD, most likely majoring in Philosophy, Physics and/or Mathematics.

    2012 CSSA Maths 2U

Pretty easy. Finished with about 50 minutes to spare.

    Why not 100 ?

That seems logical. I guess another way to look at it is if ATAR's span from 0 to 99.95, and goes up by increments of 0.05, that means that there are 2000 possible ATAR's you can get (notwithstanding the fact that you wouldn't be told if you got below 30). If ATAR's went to 100 then there would...

CSSA Paper 2 - English Advanced

Went pretty well I thought. Better than Paper 1 in my opinion. :) Module C question was a bit tricky at times, Module B required some deeper thinking than usual, and Module A was a bit rushed at the end since I did it last, but overall, it definitely wasn't as bad as what I thought it would be.

CSSA Trials: English AOS Paper 1

Pretty fair test. I did a similar essay to the one we were given for practice, so I had a good idea of what I was going to write about, stimulus fit in with my creative writing well enough, and the short answers weren't too difficult. Could've done better, but not a bad effort.

    Frankenstein/Bladerunner essay questions

I'm going to take a total stab in the dark here, feel free to criticise. :) With the first one, my first instinct was to divide my essay into how disruption is conveyed and then how identity is conveyed, as the two are practically synonyms for a number of more established themes. However, in...

    Personalities, Events & Situations

OK, the question we ended up getting was quite specific, it was something along the lines of how do the composers of texts represent events, personalities and situations to express their personal agenda; plus they specified Trials of Oz, Michael X, the Afterword, and the related text. So yeah...

    Surviving hsc french

Well in terms of exam techniques, I'm sure you've probably been told to try and search for the general gist of topics, or even isolated words here and there, which would hopefully help to make the question seem less intimidating. In terms of developing your overall listening skills, all you can...

    Personalities, Events & Situations

I have an in class essay to do first day back on the Justice Game, and with the practice ones I am doing currently I’m having some issues with structure. With Module C being quite different in its focus, I have had to move away from the standard theme by theme essay which had served me well in...

    TSFX

I'd say one on one tutoring would be more beneficial, but the lectures were still OK. Personally I don't find 2U Maths too difficult so I didn't really learn much from the lectures; I finished all the booklets with about half an hour to spare and worked on other stuff I brought with me. If you...

    TSFX

Went to all the 2U Maths and the English ones, and going to 3U on Wednesday/Thursday. The Belonging stuff was boring, there's only really so much they can tell you and I'm already getting 15/15 for Section 1 and have a pretty solid story for Section 2 already, so it probably wasn't worth the...

    Triangles/Max-Min Question

I think I've got an answer for b, but it was long and tedious, and I had to use a bit of guesswork and a graphing calculator for the last bit (although I could have found it myself using calculus but it would've taken much longer). h = \sqrt{x^2 + \left(\frac{9x}{x-\frac{8}{27}}\right)^2} =...

    Triangles/Max-Min Question

OK.....but if you sub in (0,0) to the gradient you get an undefined answer, so wouldn't that mean it doesn't pass through the origin? I don't know, what gradient did you get?

    Trigonometry exact value

Tan 45 = 1 Tan 60 = Root 3 From there you just substitute and simplify, which will require rationalising the denominator.

    Triangles/Max-Min Question

Yeah when I was using the point-gradient formula I had m = -y/x where m<0 and m is a function of x and y as you have said, after expanding I couldn't get the answer, so it might have been due to an algebraic error if that method was correct. The only thing I forgot to add from this question was...
