    Major Works

Yes it is possible but you need to have good time management.

Is it possible for me to fail prelim on the basis of my attendance?

I'm fairly sure the 80% refers mostly to unexplained abscences eg being late all the time or taking days off without getting a note in from parents. As long as you have a medical certificate/note from your parents detailing the surgery, you should be fine.

    Subjects

You need to have 12 units for prelim year so of course you should be able to manage.

    ATAR Prediction? HELP

    English Advanced or English Standard?

    Subject Selection

I would agree. Although 14 units is manageable, you will need to have good time organisation skills. You could try taking all of your units until your first assessment task. This will give you a gauge of how well you are coping and gives you a chance to drop if necessary.

    Help with subject selections please

I hope you like memorising. Chemistry and legal studies are extremely content heavy while physics also has quite a lot of things which need to be remembered.

Can you bring a something to wipe your hands in the HSC external exams?

Also, the examiners usually have some tissue boxes on hand.

Finishing exam paper in time limit?

Well, this is 3u ;) And although the MC questions are usually quite straightforward, they can require large amounts of working/calculating with no allocations for carry on. No, I would do try every question first, leaving all the parts I couldn't get straight away (most likely chunks of the...

Finishing exam paper in time limit?

Hey. I did my Maths Extension1 HSC last year. I actually found that it was better to try all the questions first and then work on MC. For two main reasons: 1) If you're running short on time, MC is something you can randomly guess at and still have a shot of gettng marks. 2) You will often...

    A little clarification - ATAR

Oops. Sorry, it wasn't meant to sound like that. :-/ I was just meaning that UAC will treat the bottom 2 unit subject as a 1 unit subject and from there get the ATAR.

    A little clarification - ATAR

That is correct. I would estimate (from your ranks) 93-95.

    A little clarification - ATAR

If your worst is a 2unit course, they take half of it. Eg worst mark = 70. It will be taken as a one-unit subject where you got 35. There are links to school rankings on other BOS threads...

    A little clarification - ATAR

For atar estimate, particularly since your cohort is so small, providing a school rank will help. When you have 11 units, they calculate your atar using your best ten. :) Also, extension 1 and extension 2 english are counted as two seperate one-unit subjects. You mixed it up with 4 unit maths.

    internal marks and external marks.

You will keep your high external HSC Mark. However, unfortunately, if you came last or second last, you would receive the lowest or near the bottom internal mark. Then, the mark you actually get is the average of those two. So, if you managed to ace externals, getting eg 95 but due to your...

    Chem Reactions

I actually think polymerisation, oxidation and reduction aren't needed until Year 12. But if you are including HSC formulas you would also need smelting and acid rain formation equations. :)

Do I have to pass all my preliminary subjects (12 units) to be eligible for the HSC?

Re: Do I have to pass all my preliminary subjects (12 units) to be eligible for the H No. You only need to pass at least ten units. But make sure you pass all the subjects you are trying to do in the HSC course :)

    Atar help!!

Hi. I don't know exactly what would be needed to get an atar of 60. However, you still have trials and then the final HSC exam to go. This equals to probably 70% of your final HSC mark. So, if you work hard, it's definitely possible to pull your marks/ranks up. :)
