The Thread for ALL FIRST YEAR QUESTIONS.

if I choose to enrol in 3 courses (6UOC each) instead of the usual 4 for next semester (was thinking of taking a slightly decreased load and stretching my degree out an extra semester), is there anything I need to be aware of? eg, does it affect HECS or do I need to, I don't know, fill out...

    What you hate about UNSW

I know...the doors seem to be very enthusiastic about closing, it's like they've barely opened to let people on before they start shutting again really quickly. I had another crazy lift adventure again yesterday, much the same as before except this time it also involved the doors not opening...

you are at uni and where?

heh, 'unsw fare' is what that massive lettering says over the library-side entrance to the food court at matthews. :) i didn't exactly look at what 'you' were eating (if it was you). it was more 'hey...is that omie jay?' as i kind of rushed past in a hurry. were you sitting like just outside...

you are at uni and where?

omie jay, were you in the unsw fare food court just before 2pm yesterday? I swear I saw someone who looked like you. (well, who looked like your old avatar of you, anyway.)

you are at uni and where?

level 10 library (the lifts seem to be working properly now), about to tackle chemistry crap and wishing the two people to my left wouldn't talk so loud.

    What you hate about UNSW

ah, good old library lifts. today i got into one of the lifts at level 2 (with a bunch of other people). once inside, people pressed levels 9 and 10 (someone tried to press 5 but that didn't seem to work at all). the buttons lit up and the lift moved up. it then stopped at level 8, which none...

    general UNSW chit-chat

stuff like this reminds me just how expensive it is to be female. i doubt i could even get a basic hair cut for $20, let alone anything else. lol. i really miss chaser's war. they should at least bring something back, like a new show or something.

How to make yourself get a nightmare?

i guess you could always try those mushrooms next to the vice-chancellor's parking space... ;) (link for the confused: http://community.boredofstudies.org/4223740/post-18.html)

What Do You Like About UNSW??

my school offers it to the dux of the year. every single year. and every single year, the dux goes to sydney. by that time, no one else can be nominated for it, so no one gets the $4000. you'd think they'd have learnt by now.

What Do You Like About UNSW??

no way! i was one of only two people from my grade to come to unsw (well, to kensington campus anyway...i think one or two went to cofa), and I didn't get $4000! (got, uh, one of the highest uai's in my grade, too, if I do say so myself...not the highest, but pretty close...) :( the...

    The Shittest Movie Ever.

was with friends, and THEY wanted to watch it, despite me pointing out that it was basically a 'kids action movie', which are inevitably bad. they still hired it. :( come on. it's not like i'm going to go home & ditch my friends during a movie night just because i don't like the movie.

    bios 1301, taronga zoo anyone?

I think we should meet at the pier :) and yep, it's pier 2.

    The Shittest Movie Ever.

'journey to the centre of the earth' was pretty terrible. as though someone decided to make a movie that was nothing more than a study of movie cliches. i know it's meant to be a family/kids movie, but even so. no excuse. the acting was bad, the plot (more predictable than anything i've ever...

    bios 1301, taronga zoo anyone?

oh wow, $15 is pretty good :) thanks for checking that out. i guess this means we pay for the ferry trip separately then...

    What you hate about UNSW

...didn't that happen yesterday as well? how many fire drills do they need?!

What Do You Like About UNSW??

but..but... well, i like it anyway. those yellowshirts were just wrong. :p (unless they are serving me coffee that is somehow brimming with pathogens or something) i prefer it from there because a) it's closest to most of my lectures, b) it's served at a temperature that can be consumed...

    Enzyme experiment for BABS1201

Well...either way, it's mixing stuff around in test tubes to see what happens. personally I don't find that particularly exciting, even if i did something different to the hsc. :o thanks for your post though. wow. what year etc did you learn this stuff in? yes, we do actually have to...

    bios 1301, taronga zoo anyone?

Heh, i hope you're not planning on becoming a detective any time soon. there were just a couple of giveaways scattered around... http://community.boredofstudies.org/589/general-university-new-south-wales/201869/unsw-myths-fables-stories/4.html...

What Do You Like About UNSW??

yes, i am :) (well, we've met each other, anyway.) i know :( this is what causes me a lot of grief sometimes. to see 'your mark is 4' and know that it means nothing. lol, first time me and my friend tackled the first assignment, we both got the message 'your mark is 1', and we thought that...
