    Ashes Series 2009

Watson just looked like he meandering in, without any real intent. Total contrast to Siddle. I still don't understand why the selectors have an aversion to choosing Clark. His line and length, and ability to create pressure is unrivalled. At the end of the day though, our batting is failing...

Abbott: Leader of the Opposition? Prime Minister?

That's where his conservative, religious position clouds his judgement and thus eliminates any possibility of him ever being a viable leadership option.

    Is Rudd a good PM/leader?

I rarely agree with Gittins, however he is quite close to the mark on this one. Where is this 'education revolution'?

Abbott: Leader of the Opposition? Prime Minister?

Abbott is intellectually superior to most and strong in the personality stakes. Although I believe he would be a strong, convicted and decisive leader, I don't see him being able to elicit enough support beyond the conservative portion of society to ever be a realistic option.

    Australian Politics

I said ALP mouthpiece, not necessarily left wing. I certainly wouldn't consider it right wing though; centre, maybe centre left. I actually read the SMH and Australian. Achieve a little balance that way.

    Australian Politics

Do you read the same paper? It might appear right wing when compared to 'Green Left, however it is still a strong mouthpiece for the ALP.

    criminal law clerkship?

I find that quite hard to believe. Such a matter would not be dealt with beyond the Local Court. Prosecutions generally, both within the DPP and the Police, face an extreme resource shortfall. Each organisation is stretched to the limit; it's the nature of the frontline of the public service I...

    Peter Grarret - morally compromised?

It's simple. Garrett has had too many short and jocular conversations. This can cloud one's ideals.

    Lin Family Murders

Re: possible psycho at Macq? Highly unlikely. Not impossible, but unlikely. As has been said, the police are looking to obtain as much information as possible to create reliable victim profiles. It is possible that any of those people who knew the victims, including fellow students at...

I don't imagine that we will see a balanced presentation. Gerard Henderson

    Zero Tolerance or Harm Minimisation?

I don't always intend to come across that way. It's just where I stand. It may not seem that way, but have a strong belief in individual freedom and liberty. However I equally recognise a need for balance. Do I have to be attached to an ideological standpoint? As I originally said, if the...

    Zero Tolerance or Harm Minimisation?

Who's words? You do exactly the same thing, except under the guise of being an all wise and committed Libertarian. Do you honestly believe that the productivity of society would not be adversely affected with complete legalisation? Your rampant libertarianism and idealism clouds any iota of...

    Zero Tolerance or Harm Minimisation?

By exploit, I meant the system (the law and the people).

    Zero Tolerance or Harm Minimisation?

The most harmful drug in terms of costs borne onto the health system and criminal justice system is alcohol. Which of course is legal. Amounts are measured and each individual is aware of the implications of ingesting excessive amounts. Yet the problems still exist. On topic though, I have...

    Australian Politics

The whole thing is farcical. National politics is a disgrace. Where is the talent in Canberra? I'm tired of hearing rehearsed lines and soundbites from both sides.

It will be interesting to see the outcome. The career of one of these men will be over.

NSW police drag man from car, bash him

You seriously have no idea. I believe you're referring to the Law Enforcement (Powers and Responsibilties) Act 2002, which doesn't specify anything of that kind.. LAW ENFORCEMENT (POWERS AND RESPONSIBILITIES) ACT 2002 In fact on a second read, most of what you have said really makes no sense...

NSW police drag man from car, bash him

On what grounds are you claiming all these illegalities? A) Where does it specify at law, that the suspect must be immediately detained? B) The footage doesn't necessarily convey that the suspect is subdued, in fact I would content otherwise. I can tell you with some fair authority, that...

NSW police drag man from car, bash him

This. The Ombudsman is investigating with the assistance of the Professional Standards Command which will hopefully separate fact from fiction. Something the Telegraph rarely seems to do.

Sol Trujillo says Australia is a racist backward nation.

We are not racist. Stupid quasi-American amigo. Go have a siesta and wake up to yourself! :haha:
