The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed

    1. You took my post out of context and missed the part where I said firearm-related deaths. I was referring to firearm-related suicides. Of course I know reducing gun ownership isn't going to have a large effect on the aggregate suicide rate. You should have quoted my entire post, it wasn't that...

    Fail Customers

(on the first day of my new job) Customer: *takes out wallet and brandishes a discount card in the middle of the aisle* How much discount do I get with this card? Me: Six and a half percent... Customer: Off which items? Me: All items. Customer: Could you do better? Me: Pardon? Customer: Could I...

how many hours of TV do you watch a day?

On an actual TV I watch on average 1 hour. On my computer, I watch around 1.5 hours of episodes from my favourite television series.

So those of you who got tutored, do you think it really made a difference?

Personally, I love English and the humanities subjects like legal studies and economics. And I think if you are highly self-motivated for a subject and you're getting marks you're happy with, there's really no need for a tutor. Sometimes getting a tutor for a subject you love can turn it into a...

    Student Online - HELP

If you can't find or remember your PIN, send a letter to the Student Records Unit at the Office of the Board of Studies and say that you want your PIN. You also have to attach a photocopy of your ID, like a a Photo ID or Student ID card.

    Possible to get a 90 ATAR/UAI w/these subs??

If you slip and get 80% in biology, for example, but 90% in everything else, 90+ is still pretty achievable.

    Possible to get a 90 ATAR/UAI w/these subs??

If you get 90% raw mark in everything, you'll be pretty much guaranteed 90+.

    It's over.

Congrats Reckoner on killing an innocent topic. Shouldn't you be hanging out with your other elitist friends instead of trolling online?

    Problem with BoS rankings.

It's hardly fair in any case - it's not like you earned that internal rank. It might be easily ignored if it was from 69 to 59, but from 69 to 6 is a massive error. It depends on what your personal ethics or morals are though. Are you comfortable knowing that all the people from 7th to 68th (or...

    Maintaining your Year 11 rankings...

It's pretty easy to maintain rankings if you work harder and more efficiently than you did in year 11. I maintained the following rankings: 1st in legal studies, english advanced, english extension and 2nd in economics. Plus I got 2nd in biology, which was better than year 11.

    why english is compulsary

    1. I think I've heard that HSC needs at least one compulsory subject to function properly, which probably helps determine scaling and differentiate students. 2. If the HSC needs one compulsory subject, then English (either ESL, Standard or Advanced) is by far the most appropriate choice.

    ranking...mines wrong i think

Yeah, you're right. Still, maybe there was an error when someone was entering the marks/ranks into the computer? That, or BOS computers are also incompetent.

    ranking...mines wrong i think

It was probably only a transcription error. If someone is tired, or handwriting is unclear, a 2 can easily look like a 7.

    fml

Did anyone get equal rankings above you? For example, 1 person gets 1st, 1 gets 2nd, 1 gets 3rd and 3 people get equal 4th. Even though you might have been 5th in that respect, it would be considered 7th (because 3 people ranked 4th, the next two ranks of 5th and 6th are eliminated).

Ranks get released at 5pm today whos excited? :D

    Biology: 2 / 38 Economics: 2 / 12 English (Advanced): 1 / 81 English Extension 1: 1 / 7 English Extension 2: 1 / 3 Legal Studies: 1 / 13 Mathematics: 30 / 45 LOL, maths is fail. :P

For my HSC I did Call of the Wild by Jack London. It has excellent prose.

    Early mornings, or late nights?

If I'm not finished by 12 o'clock, I sleep for 3-4 hours then wake up and finish it in the early morning.

    Rules for Customers

Clothing stores should really offer exchanges for change of choice and size in some instances, even though they aren't obligated to. For one, it stops annoying customers getting angry. And also, one of clothing's main purposes is to be a fashion item. If the customer feels the lingerie, for...

    Eraserhead

I love David Lynch's work, but I haven't seen Eraserhead yet. Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks are great though. Contrary to what people think, Lynch does have a plot and purpose for most, if not all, his works. However, most of this meaning is lost in 80% plot ambiguity/surrealism, 10% red...
