How stuffed up would my Eco ranks be?

    I'm guessing... (60 + 80) / 2 = 70% It depends on how they align the marks though.

    uni..

I agree completely. We should stop fighting between ourselves - the Board of Studies is the true evil in this world.

How many hours of study a night?

I agree. When I used to do chemistry at the start of year 12 the workload for that subject alone was overwhelming. 2 + hours of chemistry homework each night, and I basically had to sacrifice study (e.g. making notes, reading through my work) for chemistry so I could pay attention to my other...

Who hasnt made up their mind?

I've basically decided on UNSW no matter what. My possible courses are still up in the air though.

Why did u choose standard english?

That's terrible. I stuffed up my SC English and ended up getting 89% - but I chose Advanced English and ending up ranking 1st in year 12. Essentially the SC means nothing. I think what your school did was wrong.

Why do people drink, smoke do drugs?

I've never really smoked, drank or done drugs and I don't really care that I haven't. It doesn't really interest me at all. I've grown up with my older brother and sisters getting drunk, or social smoking, and it's not something I really want to get involved with. What annoys me though is that...

    estimate me

True. But even though English Advanced is a total of 105 marks, paper 1 is made into a mark /40 and paper 2 remains as a mark /60.

How many hours of study a night?

Not always. I agree that it's always good to write notes throughout year 12, but sometimes writing additional notes a few days before an exam can be more beneficial than just reading through pre-prepared notes. Writing notes - or even summarising notes - makes the information fresh in your mind.

How many hours of study a night?

It would be easier to say when I wasn't studying. During the HSC, I woke up around 10 am (8 am when the HSC exams started in the mornings), studied until 1 pm, ate lunch, watched TV from 3-4 pm and then studied from 5 pm - 11 pm. So around 9 - 12 hours a day. Study was pretty quality...

    N Award

If you're only doing 10 units in year 12, and accounting isn't part of those 10 units, I wouldn't worry. Just tell the school they stuffed up your subjects and that you're not doing accounting any longer.

    ATAR ESTIMATE please?

65 - 80 ATAR. It really depends on how well your cohort performed, and how the Board of Studies/UAC determines the difficulty of each exam and the subject.

    Best TV series EVER

Twin Peaks The X-Files Battlestar Galactica Buffy Firefly Veronica Mars Angel Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

What will happen to my Eco marks

It depends on your rank in your subject, and how your cohort performed. However, if you are near the top ranks with a 75% and your other class members performed well, then your adjusted internal assessment mark will be relatively high - or at least around 75%. If your adjusted internal...

    Scaled marks

Reading the procedures on the Board of Studies website, listening to independent HSC lectures and from my teachers. People in my classes have asked this throughout the year, so most of this information has been drilled into my mind. I'm not saying it's 100% correct, but that's what I understand...
  15. E

    Scaled marks

You shouldn't be so hard on yourself. Your ranks from your internal assessments do count for a lot, and even if you did stuff up a few HSC exams (which you can't know for sure until the results), other people in your class wouldn't have stuffed them up, and this means their good marks still push...
  16. E

    Scaled marks

Not exactly. They do take into account the relative gaps in ranks, to my knowledge. So if the top 25 people in one school are all within 10 marks, this will usually be adjusted better than a school where the top 25 people in a subject differed by 30 marks. The top HSC mark only equals the top...
  17. E

    Scaled marks

To my knowledge, if the highest mark is only 85%, you unfortunately only get 85% as your internal. This is essentially how the Board of Studies differentiates schools. Because the HSC is state-wide, this is the only way to compare the cohorts of schools. Just because your teacher gives you 99%...
  18. E

    Scaled marks

No, you don't get the highest mark in the exam. If you get 40% in the HSC exam, you get 40% in the HSC exam (unless you had a illness form, etc). However, if you're ranked first, your internal assessment mark is the same as the highest HSC exam mark. Meaning that if someone gets 97% in the HSC...
  19. E

    Scaled marks

It's entirely possible. If you get over 80-85% raw marks for ancient, economics and general maths and 75-80% raw marks for biology and english, I think you could get 82. Maybe even 85+ if you get at least 90% raw marks in a few of your subjects. I'm not really experienced in ATAR/UAI...

What is the right attitude and habits that someone should have to be smart?

This is a pretty vague question, but I guess you have to be motivated to study and learn, have a passion or some sort of interest in what you're actually studying, and continually try to improve upon your knowledge and skills. It's different for everyone though.
