Just got home, was meant to do 12-9, DM at 5.30pm is like, 'well there is nothing else to do, just "forget" to sign off and I will exception report it tomorrow as your Christmas present'. Suits me!

Our SM is actually encouraging pretty much all the departments to spend whatever they like (within reason). Haven't heard of any DM worrying about too many hours this week. We didn't get express alerted once today so checkouts must have been very well staffed because its not like it wasn't busy.

In my first year in 05 it was only around $100-$110 annually from memory. So to double in price in 5 years says they really want to discourage people.

I wouldn't say I found it a waste of time but if you don't go you won't be missing out on too much. It's just a pretty generic intro to uni life (note that my orientation was in 05 and it may have changed in structure). My advice would be to go regardless as you have nothing to lose.

It's only 30 mins away from the city anyway. I have no idea about how boring it would be as I live at home, but life is what you make of it. Make friends with people in a similar situation to you and you should be fine.
