if anyone has problems getting to the WOWcareers internal page, try this, in some browsers its just the dodgy login which screws up, bypass it by using

Excuse me townie while you're here, can i please have some advice.

What strange new things will have to to deal with as de facto 2IC? Like weird technical shit to do with sales and performance and everything? I will continue in that position until the real 2IC recovers from her miscarriage so I would like a bit of inkling of what I'm getting myself in to.
well, it probably varies from store to store, but if your doing it in a temporary capacity, you probably wont have to do much extra, except perhaps in the absence of the CSM: attend department manager meetings , check and action the core-comms, magazine returns, and have the final word on whether to bring in extra staff / cut staff back.

If it was permenant, or longer term, you would have to know everything about being a CSM, so promotional planning for ciggies, loading new employees, dynamic rostering, budgets and what not.

Saturday: Now 2 rosters difffer so I'll have to work this out. - one says 07-16 on Meat and 16-17 on Checkouts. Other says 07-11 on Meat, PA 5.00 and Front End 16-17..
Sunday, Normal 16-21

etc. etc.

I'm Contracted:

Sunday 16-18/18-21 (split shift)

but how does the holiday pay work? Someone told me I have a choice whether I want to be paid for the Saturday or the Monday... Totally confused.. And I doubt i'm being clear in my question either.. anyone care to help me out?

Thank you! Is CoreComms like a hybrid StoreNet/email facility accessible from the work stations?

The role may extend to April.

Hey Guys,a question re: pay

I worked Monday, 6.30-9.30. My 16th Birthday(which means a payrise) was on the Tuesday. What happens with pay? Do I get Monday at my old rate of pay and the rest of the week at my new rate? or do I just get the old rate this week and get paid on the new rate for the week starting Monday?

Confused!

I had my last birthday on a wednesday... was paid at the higher rate for the whole week... but maybe it varies by store/state?

allright, office cashier peoples, a stupid question.

The trader goes IN the safe at close, am I correct? I would have thought so, but apparantly it no longer needs to? I'm a bit confused, wasn't the reasoning behind that in case there was a fire or something...

I never used to do that, but I haven't been an office cashier/SSA/SSO for a few years.

Plus, surely there is some kind of backup process from stores to a central datacentre for all the StoreLine data???

I dunno anything about the data, I have always put it in the safe, but tonight I got told I didn't need to. It just seemed a bit odd leaving it out.

Oh wells, my SSM can take the blame again. I honestly think that we manage to butt heads over EVERYTHING.

We don't. It still puzzles me that we have to fill it out by hand... SURELY it can be calculated and printed by the software! But I guess they want the figures updated in it every day, not printed once at the end of the week.. bleh.

Alright then, maybe I'm just being too cautious it seems.

(Our head cashier is pretty scary though, and its a case of what she says goes, so thats why I've always done it that way)

My roster for the week:

Monday 5am-3pm (ends building/maintaining as specials stay)
Tuesday 2pm-Midnight (grocery/nightfill)
Wednesday 2pm-Midnight (back dock/nightfill)
Thursday 12pm-10pm (grocery/nightfill)
Friday off
Saturday 4pm-10pm (nightfill... store closed so should be a breeze)
Sunday off.

I always love Christmas week even if it is hectic.

On what grounds can managers refuse an interstate store transfer? I applied to 5 universities across 3 states (2 in Queensland, 1 in New South Wales and 2 in Melbourne), the odds are in my favour for a successful application are rather good. But knowing what a dick my store manager is and how much my department manager hates me working for something other than Frontend (more on that story later), I may be paranoid but they could refuse it and knowing their silent little protest they held when I tried a domestic transfer, I may need a taser when I tell them I'm shipping out of the Territory. How can an interstate transfer fail or is it infalible because of the costs of training new employees vs retaining existing staff?

So do I. My 'Christmas week' starts tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to it. Other people are so uptight about Xmas week and are like "ohh it's going to be so hard and busy and annoying" It's the BEST week in the Supermarket trade by a long shot.

IMO anyway.

Was thinking of getting my team a small gift for Xmas. Maybe take them to lunch or dinner on Tuesday. As far as I know no DM's in my store are doing anything like this, so I think will be a good gesture :) Plus it should boost morale.

What do you guys think? (There's only 5 of us so it's not going to break the bank! :p)
