    The Coles Thread

It's called retail leaders. Store management training pretty much for graduates. All the other functions (like marketing, my actual degree) had only one or two positions and required you to move down to Melbourne. But I love supermarket retail so I am not complaining.

    The Coles Thread

They have wisely decided they are going to shift from a price war to differentiate through customer service. It's all about a long term share of wallet view. 2/3rd's of customers don't buy fresh food in supermarkets in Australia - in the UK (where all the management is from) 98% do. So Coles has...

    The Coles Thread

Just got back from a week at the Store Support Centre with the rest of the grads. I can't reveal too much details, but I was extremely impressed with Coles upper management (we had lectures from the MD (Ian McLeod), CFO, and marketing, HR, stores, operations, retail ops managing directors...

    The Woolworths Thread

I don't know about you guys, but we are getting RAPED in wages. Our duty manager has been told she doesn't have a position from Monday and now she is a highly, highly paid nightfiller - apparently all duty managers are being culled nationwide! Because we have no hours to face the store or clean...

    Henri Leconte

Seven's commentary is just incredibly stale. Leconte is obviously biased but he loves his tennis and compared to the boring, boring Seven commentators, he is a breath of fresh air. I don't know when Seven's contact expires but give the tennis to Nine and you will see a massive difference in...

    The Tennis Thread

Re: The Official Tennis Thread He seems to be content with hitting the balls back to the opponent and waiting for unforced errors. It might work in the juniors but not in the big boys.

    The Woolworths Thread

I keep forgetting your store is small lol. Well there is always a minimum of two staff in our store, nightfill finishes at 12-1, bakers are in at around that time, produce comes in at 4, cleaners clean the store around them. So we always have our lights on 24/7.

    The Woolworths Thread

Aren't the lights on all the time anyway? There is always someone in the store. It would not be horrible on nightfill, we are used to working around customers. It would be worse on the checkouts staff that would be forced to be up at crazy hours. And you would need security to prevent random...

    The Woolworths Thread

Longest day last night, perishables ruined their freezer floor last week by constantly using the electric pallet jack on it which stuffs up when it comes into contact with a wet floor, so we have a perishables truck just stationed at our back dock till they fix it with all their freezer crap in...

    The Woolworths Thread

I can't believe the payrise is 31 cents this time! I swear it was only 8-9c last time. Let's not spend it all at once aye lol. It's good because when I get paid out I assume the lump sum is determined by my current base rate. So 150hrs x 30c is a nice bonus. Two weeks with the company to go...

MAS 215: Theories of Writing for the Media

Good luck with this unit! It is a horrible, horrible one. I assume it just has something do to with the changes to the units. At any rate, if it is NCCW and you haven't done MAS230 there will be on issue. So enrol away!

    The Football Thread

Re: The Official Football Thread Nonsense. You do not lose your drive with age. This is City's best signing, Vieira was imo the best midfielder in the EPL last decade outside Ronaldo. Influential, a ball winner, an outstanding distributor, he had it all. He is exactly what City need at...

    Subject feedback please...

BBA315 is not that easy... but maybe if you are doing accounting you are used to numbers/trends etc. Much harder than STAT170. Mind you I didn't do maths for the HSC so that might not have helped me!

    The Tennis Thread

Re: The Official Tennis Thread I'm going to the quarter finals on Australia Day and the day after. $108 for tickets to each session is a bit rich but I plan to make it all back using tennis multis lol.

MKTG202 .... anyone done it or know anything about it?

Was a prereq so I was forced to do it but it's not all that bad. Maths wise it is a step back from STAT170, and at any rate all the maths you need to do are on SPSS which isn't really hard to use once you get used to it. It is nothing like MKTG101 so if you want a cruisy MKTG objective or...

Need Advice on units to enrol

I thought it was the other way around (it was for me anyway). 207 (Services) has dryish subject matter whereas Consumer Behaviour (203) was a breeze. IMC (which I notice is back to 200 level under the new changes) is interesting. If you want to understand marketing applications without going...

    The Cricket Thread

Re: The Official Cricket Thread Which is why North should be dropped for Marsh and keep Watson and Katich opening.

    The Cricket Thread

Re: The Official Cricket Thread I would drop North, issue with bringing back Hughes is where do you play him? Katich and Watson have to open, and I don't know whether Hughes is capable of batting down the order yet. Perhaps reward Marsh for his outstanding domestic form. Siddle won't be...

    The Cricket Thread

Re: The Official Cricket Thread Lol of course he was the best batsmen of all time. I think Graeme Pollock has the second best average and his was only 60. I know Ponting is the winningest captain in history but I would like to see what % of matches he has won and compare that to past and...

    The Cricket Thread

Re: The Official Cricket Thread He also won 16 tests in a row remember in a team with McGrath, Warne, Gilchrist in it - now any captain could win plenty of matches with those once in a century players. So that skews his statistics upwards. I think history will remember this as a transition era...
