    choosing which "computer" course

Not necessarily. seng is more about management and the entire development process, not focusing programming or coding. At UNSW at least, there are entire courses in seng that are dedicated to design and documentation - you don't actually write any code or finish the project, you just design and...

So err what happened to my account?

I don't know whats wrong with Testpilot's account, but I know posting "pwnzz0rred!!!11" in the thread probably won't fix it.

General maths with I.T? (MY FUTURE!!)

No, as far as I know they all assume 3u. No, its for people who don't meet the minimum (ie, 3u maths) and its a crash course to get you up to speed. Because most things in engineering and science have a mathematical background that requires some competence in maths to...

Software Eng / Computer Science Double Degree?

Computer science is very flexible. Essentially you can choose all electives so that you almost have it exactly like the seng degree. They can be so similar theres just no point.

Chances of getting into UNSW Law?

No point in asking for "chances". Things like this are going to be different every year - its no use tell you you've got a good chance and getting your hopes and vice versa. Just wait and see what happens.

    Region free codes

Region coding depends on the software and hardware most of the time. Some software will refuse to play a disc unless the disc's region matches whats on your drive. Some drives will refuse to read a disc unless the disc's region matches what is in the drive's firmware.

    General Education (Gen Ed) FAQ

When I did it it was reading a sci fi novel and watching a sci fi movie and writing a review/diary on it with your thoughts etc. And there was this small research paper...nothing too intense.

    Major Project Dillema

Games are hard to get right. You have to make it playable, enjoyable, have a 'woah' factor and meet the marking criteria at the same time.

Reason to why we enjoyed first year computing so much

    How To Maximise Battery Usage?

If your battery is fully charged, and you're using your laptop then its being powered by the adapter and not the battery. It would basically just be sitting in your laptop fully charged all the time whether the laptop is on (in use) or off. I'm suprised it still lasts that long if it is the...

    Does SDD suck or what?

I'm not sure teaching every SDD student about memory allocation, pointers, references and its endless list of quirks is the way to go. VB is used at most schools because it is easy to learn, easy to teach, and anyone can pick it up without any prior programming experience or computing...

    Does SDD suck or what?

heh. This kind of thread comes up every year. The course is Software Design and Development, with the focus on the design, not the development. If you're not being taught how to use VB, then its your school's/teacher's problem, not the course. The course should take you through the entire...

    How To Maximise Battery Usage?

For an extended period of time (weeks) thats can be bad for the battery. Its the same as keeping in it storage, and lithium ion batteries should be kept in storage at 40-50% charge to avoid wear and tear on the cells from keeping it fully charged.

    How To Maximise Battery Usage?

Laptop batteries are replaceable parts. These days almost all laptop batteries are lithium ion batteries. They have a life and will eventually die, no matter how well you try to take care of it. 2 years is typical, 4 years if you're lucky. Generally, you'd want to completely discharge/charge...
