    Question on band cut-off

Your raw mark can be the same as your aligned mark. It all depends on how the align them.

    Major problem

yes thats what it was for my particular assessment. if someone couldn't do one part they decided that they should not loose all the marks. (because you need that part to do the rest)

    Question on band cut-off

nah. nothing to be sorry about. there is heaps of terminology out there and heaps of jargon used, it does really get confusing. because you can never tell if someone is using the general english meaning term, or the term with the specific meaning described by the board or uac.

    Question on band cut-off

i see. this is really ambiguous. you are referring to aligned hsc marks. because there are also aligned exam marks and aligned assessment marks.

    Are rankings really that important?

in some sense, your ranks are more important that the actual marks. because the school assessment marks of your cohort are altered to make the mean and max mark equal to that of the cohort in the hsc exams. so if you come 1st with 100%, or 1st with 20%, there is no difference to you. because...

    removed.. what do you mean?
  14. me121

    Question on band cut-off

umm.. isn't your band based on your hsc mark (i.e. average of exam mark and asesssment mark)..

Do 2 unit Maths, Economics and Ancient History all scale up?

to be technically correct, it is not linear, nor exponential. it doesn't have a simple formula that describes it.

    Just a quick question

As vds700 said, it allows you to determine a certain relationship constant easier. I mean its easier to find the m in a y=mx graph, than an a in y=ax^2.

    youth allowance question

If you still live at home (i.e. with your parents) are you still entitled to youth allowance?
  18. me121

    Scalings in half yearlies

wow. thats bad. that very unfair. and thats illegal and against the Boards policies. the school can adjust marks, but they must adjust everones mark. and what you have described does not ensure that rank order and relative differences is conservered. complain to your assessment coordinator...

    Question regarding moderating

the mean exam mark is 86, hence the mean moderated mark will be 86. the max exam mark is 88, hence the max moderated mark will be 88. as A got the higher raw assessment mark, A would get 88, i.e. the max exam mark. and B would get 84 (cause the avg of moderated assessment must equal average of...
