Well consider if your imaginative piece was a short story. A story has to have a title, all professional ones do, just as all professional feature articles do. I don't see why you'd conclude one needs one, and another doesn't.

I didn't write a title all year, and my English teacher made it a point to specifically circle the vacant space at the top of my page and request a title. I went into the exam trying to remember most, not my quotes... but to put on that damned title.

In writing an essay do you write about a single text in one fat paragraph... Or do you have a small "chunk" for each Quote,technique,effect.
