General disagreement on How ATAR works

Reading these threads on "How an ATAR/uai is produced" and even documents from supposed ex-BOS-techies, i notice there's one thing i don't understand. Does the ATAR work, by taking your INTERNAL rank, and simply giving you a mark in the EXTERNAL exam corresponding to your internal rank and the...

Do you believe Mary was a virgin when she gave birth to Jesus Christ??

Let me give you guys a scientific end all answer to this. IF Mary was a virgin, when jesus was born, where did the other 23 chromosomes come from? There's two possiblities, she either wasn't a virgin at all OR Jesus was a clone of mary (it does actually happen in nature, although very...

    Accused of cheating during trials

Since when were'nt you allowed to write a few words on your hand? I mean, its quite similar to memorise/regurgitate, its just that its easier. In both methods, the knowledge was never really YOURS, you were just "borrowing" it

So i was having this day dream right

Sigh... Kaz you missed the point! It was satire on a really bad CSSA question. That asks an nigh-ambiguous question.

    Why are exams needlessly difficult?

I don't study by memorising answers, im just wondering why its encouraged. Is training a generation of expert past-paper writers what we're aiming to do with education? I'v got nothing against, "Challenging" questions. I'v got nothing against questions that ask you to apply what the course has...

    Why are exams needlessly difficult?

Well why? I thought, you picked a course which teaches you the basics of whatever field your planning to get into, and the exams are supposed to, above all make sure you know these basics. Why then do we have people getting less than 80% on a course and being satisfied with it? Does that mean...

So i was having this day dream right

Basically, what i was dreaming of, was imagine an vehicle, say a cart that was made OUT of light. (Yes, my day-dreams suck). Now, while i was traveling in this light-cart, a rabbit was stationary and was watching the bus (as it was driving past a petshop). Eager to make sure i was good looking...

Memorising 5 essays for the trials...

Alright il'l tell you, but remember, the best marks are for essays that 100% answer the question, not a simply a change in the last line of each paragraph linking back in some half-ass way. eg. The character hamlet, through the use of dialogue propel the plot, and emboss the theme into the...

    Would u still do English

The second one, What i mean by that is, English (rename the subject), should focus on what literature aims to do. Persuasion to a point of view, inform, etc. This should be the heart of the syllabus. You should not be marked on whether you can cram 15 visual techniques into a 1200 word essay...

    Night-Before Study

It depends on your ability to retain things. Sure you can go ahead and study 6 months before an exam, but when the exam starts, can you remember the things learnt at the beginning of the 6 months? And if you can, why study at all, just learn it once in class. If you can't, study night before...

math question, not sure how to categorise it sorry

Let me elaborate, a cube has six faces. At any time only two of these sides can be NOT perpendicular to the table. But there are 3 blue sides, of which only 2 can be NOT perpendicular to the table. Thus, at least 1 blue side will always be perpendicular to the table face, regardless of arrangement.

math question, not sure how to categorise it sorry

Interesting cube question. The probability is 1, there is no way to way to get a cube with 3 blue sides to ever land in a way where one of those sides is NOT perpendicular to the table.

    Maths sucks

No, no... it Pains me to see Math seen like this. The problem with the current maths education system is its founded by people who've never done real math in their lives. Starting from primary school. Generally people who don't understand math, or suck at it, become primary school teachers...

"A critical examination of religions" SOR topic

Come on Atheists, let's get this lobby'd in. Basically, we critically examine the claims of all religions, through the lenses of modern society and scientific knowledge.

How can you get your English Examiner to "like" your essay?

If you're good at Math but bad at English, you're looking at math wrong. if you're bad at Math and good at English, you're looking at English wrong. Both of them focus on communicating an idea. The good English essay or story, shouldn't be DEPEND on the markers mood, it should dictate the...

    The great fabricated text experiment

The idea of this experiment is to write an essay, using 2 related materials which don't exist. The quotes have been made up for the sole purpose of fitting the question the essay is asking perfectly. The authors and composers of the texts are "independent" or "anonymous". By doing this I don't...
