To buy or not to buy...ipod video...

Whilst you may not think you can notice the sound quality difference- invest $50 or so in some cheap (but decent) headphones and you'll easily be amazed. Maybe some good quality in-earphones might be a good investment? And they stop you from hearing other noises when on the bus or plane. As...

    Windows Live (Hotmail, MSN, etc..)

I think I'll stick to my MSN 7.5 with MSN PLUS =] Thanks for the feedback guys.

Is there an easy way to see new replies to my posts?

By any chance is there a limit to the subscribe thing? I wish I could just bookmark a search query... there's probably some "haxor" way to do it but I just don't know it.

    BCom/BEc

If I wasn't on a cadetship then I would consider it- it actually seemed quite interesting to me.

It would seem this username works perfectly... now if only the Quick Reply button worked in Firefox again.

What Type of Pen do you Use?

Depends if you're used to it- for me, it helps me write more legibly so it's an advantage... but even if it's tiring, the practice from using heavier pens enables me to write faster when using a lighter pen... but then I end up running my letters together too much creating a bit of a mess.

    Are cars investment?

... or doing extra curricular activities at university to improve chances of getting a better job later on.

What Type of Pen do you Use?

Indeed they aren't. Some are extremely light, but I think using a heavy pen forces you to write properly... well, that's been my experience. It's a pain when you're doing maths figures with a heavy pen though~

    yourname@student.unsw.edu.au

I remember doing the HSC and I was worried I'd forget my student number but everyone told me "Don't worry, by the end of your Trials it'll be memorised."... and sure enough, I remembered it. Stupid rule that you had to write it on every page of every essay and question booklet... but I guess...

    ???!!!???!!!cadetship/traineeship/apprentice what's the difference??!!!???!!!

There's a lot of talk about this over on the Commerce/Business board (http://community.boredofstudies.org/forumdisplay.php?f=462) but in short; Cadetship (on BoS at least) usually refers to a program whereby an accounting firm will offer a full time position to a HSC-leaver (or uni student)...

    Macquarie Bank employees

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on getting into Mac Bank- definitely notorious for having some of the hardest entry requirements and better salary packages (for grads), and whilst it's true that it's a relatively small player compared to the rest of the IBs out there, getting into MB is still...

How come only NSW and VIC?

I thought it's "think tank"? *scratches head* And I'm not an expert here or anything but I was wondering if there are (m)any people frm other states on BoS?

    Accounting Cadets: UTS vs. UNSW

Agreed- but it's convenient and practical for cadets; and for those who are cadets, future employers would probably admire your work experience over the name of your degree.

People who did all 2 unit subjects

I'm pretty sure if someone topped state in Chem, Phys and Eco (along with Adv English and Adv Maths) they'd be elegible for a 99.95 UAI? The girl frm my school in 2005 HSC topped Chem, 2nd in Eco, and various other marks ended up with a 100.00 UAI.

    UTS vs. UNSW

EDIT: (my edit button isn't working)- I just read that you (mashi) are a UNSW coop scholar in another topic.

industry experience in B Business UTS

I'm under the impression that is for their coop program in Accounting. Work experience can be undertaken anywhere- as in, from any degree, you just ring up companies/firms and ask if they could use an extra hand or two for minimal (or no) pay.

    Advanced English vs. Standard English

Selective schools typically take in a candidature of the top 25 percentile of students so I would think it's safe to assume that those students are capable of English Advanced... but then in recent years, some selective highs have not ranked as well as one would expect. I am yet to meet...

    UTS vs. UNSW

Of course we complain- when our chargeout rate is $140/hr and we only get $13/hr pay... wouldn't you? The work that cadets do varies between firms but in reality, what did you expect? You have to start somewhere. It's a program which you'll only be rewarded if you stick to it until you finish-...

    Advanced English vs. Standard English

This is a direct quote from the Baulkham Hills High School website in regards to the 2004 HSC. So, I don't see anything wrong with selective highs encouraging students to do Advanced English by force.
