I didn't even mention critical theory, other versions, ect. That stuff is what USED to be in the exam. If you want critical theory ect, put in a 3 unit essay. I just answered the question.

The whole point of the HSC is to seperate people in terms of marks. English and Religon have presumably been able to do that. Everyone from our school found it fairly straightforward - if those from schools below, say, 10 or 20 or 50 found it hard, then that's a good thing. I have a problem...

So far there has not been a valid issue with this years HSC. At least last year with Ruse and 3maths there was a valid complaint. Being asked 1 text instead of 2, or having the syllabus knowledge tested in ways which are (gosh) not a dot point, are not things that should be controversial.

How on earth are there that many wanting over 55? We had three people over 55 at our school ... and we're expecting about 10 or so to get over 96 as a HSC. If you're well above 55 (say 57, 58) then you're looking to state rank.

Does anyone know if state ranks are determined from OVERALL HSC, or EXTERNAL HSC? I know that in the same school, it's determined from overall HSC, but for different schools does that change?

Dude, what have you been learning all this time then? I think that the change was a really good thing. Instead of churning out other people's ideas about the text, they're now asking for your own. That's a lot less effort wasted in memorising various critical perspectives.

Apparantly it was rare in 90s papers for people to get full marks.Alas, papers have got easier, which means that its more and more about consistency and just not making stupid mistakes ... Btw congrats namu on your 120.

The reason we think they're going to do so well is that all three are well in the top 10 - branden and victor in top 5. (branden was even dux in the halfyearly) Although I guess other schools could upset us.
