Looking at the marking criteria, anything about a 6 has the "utilises stimulus as a focus" or whatever dot point, so you can't really get much higher than that, unless you wrote one hell of a creative. And our school totally rekt you if you didn't use the stimulus enough, so idk :p

I read it on a flight, it was a great read <3 Some of the descriptions were too long for my liking, and the narrator interrupting in the middle was really weird for me, but over all it was a pretty good book :D

Calculus & Analysis Marathon & Questions

Re: First Year Uni Calculus Marathon Is it just e^{\int_0^1\ln{x}\,dx}= \frac{1}{e} ?

    Set Notation

It depends what you mean by set notation. I wouldn't use x \in [2,7]/\mathbb Q, but something like x \in \mathbb N is perfectly acceptable.

I would advise against that. If you use it metaphorically, use it as the literal object for the metaphor - don't come up with a metaphor for it and not reference the original stimulus. I wouldn't see a connection between the two unless you pointed it out to me. A sentence near the end isn't...

do you need to include act and scene for shakespeare quotes?

I never include them, breaks the flow of the essay too much.

we did Dorian Gray in year 10 and it was bae <3 Oh I wing essays but like, half way through I realised I was both agreeing and disagreeing with the question at the same time lol I was like trying to argue something like 'pleasure and excitement to learn new things' but also like 'through lack...

Look, honestly it makes me so sad. The past few years we had amazing texts and then suddenly bam this - like why can't we do Heart of Darkness or Picture of Dorian Gray, or like, ANY OTHER BOOK THAT'S GOOD

HSC Music 1- some advice please!!

I disagree with that part --- I was doing composition for my elective and for extension, and I don't believe it's fair for me to be marked harsher simply because I am more advanced at the theory component (albeit I still came second in the performance aspect too thanks to playing the piano for a...

I think we did the same trials That "pleasure and excitement" triggered me so much because Che Guevara definitely experiences neither and my related is an existential depresssing af monologue, so I was bullshitting my way through to get like 8/15 lol

    Using exact answers?

Write all the working out, including the numbers you use for the calculation. You won't lose marks for not rounding, unless rounding is implied in the question (i.e. "How many sheep are on the farm at 3pm?" 24.53 just isn't gonna cut it :p)

    Limits

    Quick L'Hopital cheat for 0/0 limits: \begin{align*}\lim_{x \to c}\frac{f(x)}{g(x)} &= \lim_{x \to c}\frac{\frac{f(x)}{x-c}}{\frac{g(x)}{x-c}}\\&=\lim_{x \to c}\frac{\frac{f(x) - 0}{x - c}}{\frac{g(x) - 0}{x-c}}\\&=\lim_{x \to...

    HSC 2016 MX1 Marathon (archive)

    Re: HSC 2016 3U Marathon I'll use sigma notation because I think it'll make it more clear. Line 2 is this: (1+x^2+2x)^{2n} = \sum_{k = 0}^{2n}{{2n}\choose k}(x^2+2x)^{2n-k} = \sum_{k = 0}^{2n}{{2n}\choose k}(x(x+2))^{2n-k}= \sum_{k = 0}^{2n}{{2n}\choose k}x^{2n-k}(x+2)^{2n-k} Can you see...

HSC Music 1- some advice please!!

They are in fact, exactly identical. Markers are supposed to mark them equally too - a full mark music 1 performance should in essence be full marks in music 2. However, when you do music 2, the markers are less lenient with small details and much more harsh in marking. They expect you to play...
