Is uni like the HSC studying wise?

Can i just say that while i think this is very helpful for students, it's pretty disgusting that the convenor has to take the time out of their tremendously busy schedule to make an updated video every week for students who simply can't be assed to attend their tutorials (excluding those with...

Is uni like the HSC studying wise?

I've had assignments set by word of mouth, along the lines of "write an essay on something that we studied this semester that interests you. Make it as long as it needs to be. Hand it in when it's finished".

University Questions from a current Yr 12 student....

    1. How long are holidays at uni? varies between Universities. At MQ you get November-late February. Then two weeks mid sem break per 13 week semester with roughly a month between each semester. 2. How will I afford to pay for my course ($7000-$8000 A YEAR!) HECS-HELP 3. To current uni...

    What's the deal with Arts?

This is a fairly reasonable period of time to get a graduate position..?

    What's the deal with Arts?

Don't let the arts bashing get you down, you have to take what you read on these forums with a grain of salt. It's that time of the year where every HSC student and his pet emu all of a sudden become an expert on tertiary education and employment.

    My interview experiences and tips

Half of all that you do in retail is engage in conversations that you legitimately do not give a fuck about. The ability to prattle on mindlessly while giving the illusion that you care is an important one.

Time off work for HSC exams? What are my rights?

This is true, as a casual you have the right to say that you cannot work for a specified period of time and they cannot force you to work. It is also true that they are under no obligation to provide you with any more shifts should you choose to take that time off.

Balancing uni work, travel and social life

It's doable, but you MUST plan your time. It is also important to know your limits. I spent the last two semesters either at work or at uni 7 days a week and (coupled with some other things) had a moderately severe breakdown towards the end of last semester which i am only now starting to...

    Amount of sources?

IMO it's better not to think of it as 'how many sources per essay' or 'how many sources per paragraph'. What you need to be doing is making sure that you are substantiating all of your claims with evidence.

People who studied psychology.. please look

Pretty much, if you don't undertake a fourth (honours) year of study you cannot be accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council. I think you can undertake a Graduate Diploma in Psychology as a fourth year of study in the place of honours, however i don't know much about it. The...

People who studied psychology.. please look

Hi there, if you want to become a registered psychologist you must undertake an honours year. What a lot of people don't understand is that you don't need to do a degree with 'honours' in the title to take your honours year. Honours is usually a separate thing from the undergraduate...

Social Anxiety. Public Speaking, Oral presentations etc. Help.

I had the same issue for many years, and still do to a degree. A big part of it for me was that i would blush very deeply around my chest, neck, ears etc. Knowing that people could see how nervous i was made me more nervous and blush more and it was just awful. I now make sure i always wear my...

What should you definitely do in Israel?

Visit some of the archaeological sites! Ashkelon, Bet Shemesh, and Lachish are amazing. If you go within the next four weeks you could catch the current excavations at Tel Azekah as well. No matter what you do, make sure you visit Masada, fucking amazing. Also, you have to get falafel with hot...

    Would you recommend AHIS100?

Shalom from Israel! AHIS100 has been messed about with in recent times, when i did it it was taught by a different lecturer and was called 'Oikos to Polis', so i can only comment on it as it was then. Like most 100 lvl AHIS courses, it's a pretty general introductory unit that covers a lot of...

Is it possible/okay to double major between 2 different uni's?

I will say, don't underestimate how much work the french will be simply because of its low contact hours and faculty designation. Languages at uni move very, very quickly and require consistent hard work to keep up. I run PASS sessions for classical Greek at MQ and have seen even native speakers...
