Mod B - HSC Speeches predictions?

I am utterly hopeless at HSC English, but why do you guys like Sadat's speech? To me it's a long and boring speech filled with empty rhetoric. Not to mention translation issues.

2014 Modern History HSC exam predictions thread

My teacher predicted 7/8 of the questions in the last year's exam. This year his predictions are the following: 1. Trench warfare for WWI, but apparently you should know everything because WWI can be from multiple points of the syllabus. 2. Collectivisation and industrialisation for Russia...

I don't know how to study for chemistry.

I suggest doing past papers. However, doing everything all at once seems to be a waste of time to me. I suggest picking out the questions that you can't do, and doing those/asking for help from your teacher. It also helps me to do multiple choice questions because you can instantly know if...

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

That's correct. Like I said, it was an easy question, but it's required for b). Also, you should probably mention units which is mol/L.

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

Test that was used in my school for the acidic environment.

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

I'm pretty sure that polarity = stronger intermolecular forces, and for something to boil you need to break intermolecular forces. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

I think that's correct. The only thing is that my teacher used the term "it has more moving electrons" to explain why it has more induced dipole moments, giving it greater polarity and thus a higher boiling point. (I'm really not sure, I don't fully understand it). Another funsie: a) In North...

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

Here's a question that I found to be absolutely impossible to get full marks on from my trial, if anyone wants to have a go. Which allotrope [oxygen or ozone] would you expect to have a higher boiling point? Justify your answer. (2 marks) PS. you must have 2 reasons

    need help

You forgot to mention that transuranic elements are man-made, or artificial. That would probably lose you marks.

This is literally driving me crazy

So is that what they're actually called?

This is literally driving me crazy

Maybe resonating, I'm not sure. It was the first HSC experiment. It had something to do with overlapping. I think it has something to do with this. Is it sigma bonds?

    Moderation of option topic

I could be wrong, but options do not scale up that much. Last year I remember reading that genetics: the code broken in biology is only about 1 mark higher than others. I would also suggest doing the option that you did in class. Could be wrong, but it seems to me that they like to throw in a...

    Combustion: Liquid or gaseous water?

Gaseous because combustion doesn't really occur in the temperature where it would be liquid (below 100 degrees celsius). They often write it as liquid in the HSC.

This is literally driving me crazy

Those are not double bonds but they are called something else. My teacher tells me that it's drawn as double bonds for convenience. I want to know what they are actually called.

Percentage composition of nitrogen in ammonium sulfate?

    molecular mass 2N/molecular mass (NH4)2SO4 * 100

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

A question on batteries hasn't come up in something like 8 years. This is not counting multiple choice.

This is literally driving me crazy

My teacher told us that toluene is not an alkene because it's not actually double bonds that occur in it. We tested this by adding bromine water to toluene, which did not discolour it, which would seem to suggest that it indeed does not have double bonds. My teacher also showed our class an...

    HSC exams and preliminary

Yeah I'm only worried about legal studies because we only spent 2 lessons on that (I'm doing preliminary+HSC in 1 year at TAFE). Thanks for the response.

Can BOS ask you preliminary questions in HSC exams come October?

    what happens to bank 6's

According to this, I was the only person to achieve a band 6 in my school. Well, this helps.
