What would 98 be around?

My friend got 97 aligned with like high 90s.

Yeh about 71/84 should be a 95/96
Ah, that's okay considering that I felt that I had the worst exam that day.

Oh well, I can always repeat.

what thats weird.
i was expecting like 115 raw (about 1 day after exam, after going through terry lee etc) but i got 98 aligned ??? i probably accounted for all my silly mistakes and my working was sound.. myabe markers are idiots and didnt like me o_O.
im sure your friend did a LOT better than 90/120 raw...

Man, 4 unit maths looks hard. Have any of you ever got a raw Band E4 mark in it? I'm talking about internals.

^eh? Yeah, I did. I got 90+% in my school exam but that doesn't tell me how good I am really because my school exam can be just easy. So Band 6 from school exam = meaningless really unless your school is like Ruse or Baulkamhills where the result is pretty outstading every year.

He reckons he got low 100 maximum but he def thinks he got 98 or thereabout.

i dno, i was expecting 115~ but a 110 minium ??? this is where exam script request comes in...
or maybe the drop between 98 and 97 is huge? but that doesnt seem too likely.
idno, tis weird

A raw mark can never get aligned to 100 can it?

Yeah, that's pretty weird but we never know. That guy would have performed extraordinarily well or may have got all the marks (i.e. like low 100 such as 102-104)

Thats no reason to repeat, 48/50 is an awesome mark, keep it, spend time on your other subjects. Another 4-5 marks won't boost your UAI too much higher. Also, if you get an easier hsc exam in 2009, you would have to work twice as hard to get that mark.
Also, why are you going to do 4unit maths, you got 100 in 2u, thats like getting 100 in 4 unit (not really, but in scaling perspectives it is)

Um...I got 100 for maths and so did like 4 or 5 other people.

100 in chem as dp mentioned
100 in 4 unit but not 100% as in raw
100 in 3 unit
100 in english
100 in ex2
50 in ex1 = 100% that is
...
...

You are officially the 20th person (nah, jks) to tell me that I am better off without maths (indirectly).

That's probably true. But HSC is about doing subjects you like. But HSC is about doing things right I believe. I am just leaving all my options open.

I am not very happy with 3 unit because I didn't perform to my potential in that paper. I felt that the 2008 3 unit paper was the worst 3 unit paper i ever did and I probably barely pulled of 48 (or just close to 48) so I am not very happy about that. For 4 unit, I am doing reasonably well in it. I can always drop it if it becomes too daunting.

About other subjects, hm...you are actually right. I might need more time. But time is something that you create. So I guess I will just create more time for them. haha

nuuu keep 4u namu!!! always, if for the killer scaling AND alignment =P and you'd be better off doing 4u, trust me =DDD

and youd be suprised at how much 4-5 marks would boost his uai. considering he got a 96... 4-5 marks is 100-101 =O

and its VERY possible to get 95 raw in maths and sciences and all that jazz... just try hard and have innate talent. a 95% raw would align to maybe 98+?

haha, agreed dp. Yeah, I agree with the scaling part too. 4-5 aligned marks in mx1 = 5+ scaled marks.

I cannot afford to lose more aligned marks really if I wish to get a high UAI.

I mean, 481-2 = 100 UAI when 478 = 99.90 UAI. Only 4 scaled mark difference but 0.10 UAI differnece (HUGE difference!)

But 4unit can't possibly boost the scaled 2unit mark any higher, it may help with 3unit, but i wouldn't recommend sitting the 4unit hsc this year. 4 Extra marks in 3u (which would be very hard to get) will only get u about 0.4 more uai points.

0.4 is quite a lot...and 3 extra marks in 3U isn't going to boost it by that much.

but i agree, if you are purely going by the marks, doing 4U will mean a massive input of effort and time for very little gain in terms of your aggregate.

no what, never! doubling his eventual 3u mark (of abut 99-100 im sure) will be one of the biggest gains to his uai.
it allows him to count one unit less of some crap subject.
and for his 4u, im sure hell only lose 0.1-0.5 aggregates from the raw 100 scaled from it (98 scales to 99.4 so yeah)

So many conflicting views!! But I am going for 4 unit atm anyway. No reason to drop out of it.
