kanye is an average rapper with some good punchlines, and was lucky to find a ghostwriter like rhymfest. his producing > his rapping....but he isn't a bad rapper.

oh yeh i forgot about fabolous, in my 'new rappers' list he'd prob be number 7.

lol @ game

lol @ jay-z being 1st. Come on man, his catalogue is so inconsistent it's not funny. And Rakim not in your top 20? You've gotta be kidding.

Darek_arsenal: LOL. Tupac is not bad. WTF is wrong with you? Tupac >> Jay-Z.

that's why my list is always changing, because i forget one or two people lol.

but yes jay-z is my 1st on the strength of his first 3 albums, the blueprint, the black album, his modern guest appearances, his ability to balance between hip hop and pop, his diversity and flow, and of course his really old type flow (show & prove, da graveyard, i can't get with that) and that 'dead presidents (original) is my favourite hip hop song of all time, and that he is on my favourite freestyle of all time - the one with big L - 7 min freestyle

You can't compare Tupac with Biggie...

Biggie made commercialised music... targeted at record sales...
Tupac shed light on the poverty in the U.S and the segregation through the eyes of an african american male. Tupac will go down in history... and possibly studied in schools in the future.
As we study poets of the 19th and 20th century.. who described things such as the first world war.. or other things... his lyrics will be studied similarly....

Biggie was just a "rapper" and if he does go down in history.. it'll be as the rival of Tupac...

read the lyrics to "trapped" or "cradle to the grave" or "brendas got a baby" from tupac... you'll see that his lyrics are deep and meaningful... biggie just made commercialised music....

im still shocked at how stupid and ignorant this post is

Biggie.... well that just shows you... the idiots were dealing with...
right now theres two kinds of rappers... theres those who... make commercialised music... with "word play" and "humour"... with a produced beat thats complimentary to the few syllables they use... this is called "bubble gum" rap...
ie(it runs out of flavour... in minutes...)
Then there are real rappers... who are true lyricists... some say what we're thinking some say what we don't know... some give out words of praise.. and words of hate...

Heres my top 5:

Tupac
South Park Mexican (SPM)
Snoop Dogg (The Original Original O.G)
DPGC/Nate Dogg/Warren G/NAS/Rasheed/Brother Ali/Baby Bash
Soldiers Of Allah (I like these guys cause im muslim)

(I think Ja Rule would be good if he made some better songs... and 50 Cent would be better if he made less commercialised music...)

I'll explain why i chose those 5.

1. Tupac - Besides the fact that he predicted his death, survived being shot 15 times... was the most controversial rapper... and his album was the highest selling album at a time when rap was mostly "underground".
He stayed true.. even after he was one of the most succesful musicians... by continually writing stories about the raw human needs....
Songs; Dear Mama, Trapped, Changes, Brendas Got a Baby, Keep Your Head Up, I Wonder If heaver got a Ghetto, My Block
Those are the songs with strong meaning... and powerful lyrics... theres many more...

2. SPM- The south park mexican....
What can i say about this guy? Well he is the most fluid rapper ever... he flows syllable to syllable... he brings humour into the dangers of the life hes lead.... of working as a drug dealer to make a place for himself... to finally selling cassette tapes out of his work bag... to be being signed by Universal St.
Songs: Drunk man Talking, My Hood, Filthy Rich, The 3rd Wish, I must be High, Nasty Girl.

3. Snoop Dogg...
Theres not much to be said... he's been in the rap game since the early days... providing strong powerful lyrics... along with humourous ones...

His new song is a testimony to this...
Snoop Dogg/DPGC - Real Soon

His just giving his opinion and even if some of his facts are wrong, it doesn't give you the right to act like a dickhead and tell him to get the fuck out of the thread, because you assume he doesn't know ANYTHING at all. fucking grow up already seriously.

dude you are just so god damn ignorant about this genre, and me, so get out of this thread. I put one in my avatar because my friend asked me too, fuck do i care what's in my av lol.

i like commercialised or 'trendy' things? dude if you have read any of my posts before hand you would know that you are so god damn wrong.

are so shit when it comes to hip hop. go hang out with the leb 'crips.' or go bump 50 cent and listen to 96.1.

but anyway i understand why you say 2pac now because i realise you are probably one of those stereotypical teen arabs. You ask any teenybopper (lebo, supre slut) and they'll say 2pac because they dont know SHIT.

'if biggie goes down in history it will be as a rival of 2pac' see dude that is so stupid and proves that you don't know shit and have no place in here arguing something you know nothing about. Yeah that may hold true for teenyboppers because i suspect they only like biggie because of the beat for 'hypnotize' and the fact that he died, was in pacs rival and 'lol cool black people' go on about him.

you just saw my list, and i listed some hip hop, but you persist on calling me a teenybopper, my take is that because you have no idea who people like Big L and black thought are. And if you don't then god damn man you don't know shit.

but you like brother ali, ill give ya props on that one.
