Noticed that it hasn't been mentioned in any of this list so:

For book Waylander by David Gemmel is an awesome choice, portrays inner journeys of two people, Waylander himself and the priest Dardalion. Can't really explain it the well but trust me its worth the read for a related text.

Also for movie I'm using Kid's Story (from the Animatrix)

DEFINItly >THe pursuit of happiness< this would be a good movie one to do.
There are so many things u could mention such as his emotions, struggle, relationships, love, Personal growth, confidence and even Poverty living in a homeless shelter even in public toilets his attitudes and reactions towards these obstacles.

Theres alot more even the quotes which he says to his son

i'm doing a speech and essay in the following week on inner journeys, and i have chosen these three texts to present:

'Cosi' the play by Louis Nowra
'Journey To The Interior' a poem by Margaret Atwood
and 'The Arrival' an illustrated picture book by Shaun Tan.

another suggestion would be the film 'My Own Private Idaho'.

i highly recommend these.
good luck. :)

We're always told NOT to use Song Lyrics... i dont know why... but apparently if we do, we'll get beaten....

Im using Dirty Dancing and an Aboriginal Poem called 'Stepping Out'
so is it recommended that you dont use song lyrics as one of your text?

Yeah that's true, according to a hsc marker i spoke with. Song lyrics (vs. say poetry or epics) use a formulaic structure that do not present opportunities to apply conventional techniques of verse. Also it's much easier applying rhythm and rhyme techniques ie iambic pentameter to more elevated poems.

One way to get around this though would be to analyse the song lyrics in tandem with the music video. This way you are catering for both the visual and auditory aspects of your texts, as though you studying a film or documentary.

Re: INNER JOURNEY movies, songs, poems, books

We have My Place by Sally Morgan as our prescribed text so I went with:
1) Elizabeth Swann out of PotC, Her acceptance of others and her change from the nice lady to a pirate. (Flim)
2) A parable out of the bible (Short Story)
3) Welcome to my Life By Simple Plan (Song)

and then i found footsteps in the sand listed here

Hope that helps

For those that are interested, A Shadow On The Glass by Ian Irvine is a good book about Journeys.

Okay, well i'm in year 12 now and i have to have two related text's for an essay about inner journeys. I have chosen my two with one being "footprints in the sand" and i was wondering if anyone has some tips on how to identify the different techniques and how to relate it to certain books ie - "Cosi".

I'd appreciate it alot. Thankyou.
