So what?
I got 87 with only four hours study. And none the day before, because i was preoccupied with Modern History and Maths Ext 2.
Studying for Economics is pointless, unless you're memorising definitions or formulas.
I barely paid attention all year, and only studied for two hours the night before the exam.

Because I was sure I'd get like 50, because I HATED the subject. I found it so boring beyond belief. I didn't try all year, and to get almost 3/4, 75% on the exam for doing the little work I did, was so good.

Oh by the way, this thread wasn't intended for me to boast, it was about how study guides can be good, when so many people say they're pointless.

Am I in the right section? I swear this was 2009 HSC

I don't think anyone cares that you got 73. You didn't study. Grats, that's not something to boast about.

Re: Mindmaps for everything??

Yup, it really depends on finding out what is best for you...no one solution is an automatic mark-booster...etc, etc...

With that disclaimer, I find using mind-maps is good to get an overview of the subject, sort out all the ideas in my head, summarise the topic, whatever. It doesn't really work for detailed understanding of the topic, though, so the mind-maps should be supplemented with "normal" notes (or however you normally study). But then again, using a broad range of study tools can only be a good thing, right?

Ouch. If you studied the night before, and you were aiming for a higher mark, then shame. But if you reached your goal, then congratulations

Re: Mindmaps for everything??

mindmaps sorta work, and sorta dont for me
they help me to sort out the info in my brain, but i prefer to have it in dotpoints or sentences. Dont know why haha.

Re: Mindmaps for everything??

I do mind maps, but then i do normal notes to cover each mind map point.

That way i have a mind map/flow chart to glance at just before an exam, but actual notes to read before the exam. I only do mind maps for my science though, i like points or actual written out practise essays for my histories/english.

Thoughts on recording notes?

I''ve recently just started recording my notes with a microphone device for IPT these holidays, and I was just wondering if it really is a good idea before i put alot of time into it, what do you think about it?
Thanks in advance.

yeah, because im getting a teacher i was originally supposed to get in year 11 for year 12 and he wants us to learn alot of content during the holidays, and seeing i dont have alot of time on my hands focusing on other subjects more, i came up to a conclusion of doing this
