Sydney Boys' motto: Veritate et Virtute (Truth and Virtue) -
prefects motto: Veritate et Pudor (Truth and Humility).
strictly speaking they're actually
veritate et virtute: 'by truth and virtue'
virtus et pudor: 'truth and humility'

apologies to frigid who, being a latin student, should noe better than to mistranslate obvious ablatives
but the prefects motto is semi-excusable, though the translation is still poor :D

Well, I don't think anything could be as irrelevant to school as the Abbotsleigh motto:

Motto: Tempus celerius radio fugit
Translation: Time flies faster than a weaver's shuttle

What do weavers have to do with school???

=p Prefects suck bro!

newais, since you so wittingly smack-me-down, i'll add another one:

"extremos pudeat rediise" - "it shames to come last"

pigs_cannot_fly. if you :apig: :chainsaw: them

As a favour to Shaz, I translate:

"Labor Omnia Vincit" - "Work conquers All" (motto of Sydney Girls' High)

"Gesta non Verba" - "Actions not Words" (sums up James Ruse to the letter)

=p

How old is your school? Ours has been around since 1867 which is why we have a latin motto, new schools are just using english i think

"Ad astra per aspera" - To the stars through troubled ways.

My school didn't actually want it to mean that someone stuffed it up or other.

My primary school was 'labor omnia vincent'

I'm the same as Sophie.... yay to our school!! Well, I don't know about getting to the stars *crosses fingers* but the way has certainly been troubled at times...

Soph... our primary school has the same motto as Sydney Girl's High.... I suddenly feel elevated, sharing a motto with a posh school!!!!
