around $5000-6000 not incl excursions, builing fund, text book hire, uniform etc. independent cath school.

i guess the schools that pay more than $10k have great facilities like really new, high tech comps, swimming pool, proper gym with weights etc.

Harsh. Any extra cash my school comes into contact with is used to revamp the buildings and update texts/library and get some extra facilities for the younger kids to use in the future.
