My school's fees are about $5400 a year,
but then again we're "getting" $9400 worth of education, apparently.

I love it there, a vast contrast from the partially Selective School I went to.

I was actually shocked when I was told I would need to buy all my textbooks out of my own money.
Ah well, lucky guy on BOS who buys when off me for shit all.

I'm prolly not rich or as privileged as some of ya'll. Sure, its my education but I don't need to throw bucket loads of money away to get an awesome ATAR, thanks.

Mine is $12 000+ plus everything from band aids to the plastic pockets you get your certificates in.

I think it is the most (or secondmost) expensive one is Tasmania, so there's quite a few mainlanders/Asians who come down to get super education on the cheap (in comparison to schools in syd and melb)

240 Dollars...cheaps as chips.

i go to north sydney girls and its like over $1000 a year... cheap compared to private but expensive compared to other public schools...

it kind of sucks because they send an invoice to my parents which have supposedly "voluntary donations" on them

I'm not quite sure how much mine was, around $20,000 in year 12 I think, not including uniforms, camps, music lessons, books ect...

Uni is so much cheaper lol.

Sydney Boys - selective public school, $1000. Bit expensive, however, those who cannot afford it can have the fee waived, no questions asked.

Am agree for you pay for what you get. High school is only once in a lifetime. So if your parents/grand parents earn enough to spend 20K ++ annually. It is the best investment.

Of course if you can get in Ruse or High will be great as you'll be subsidies from the Govt. But consider the quality of teachers & facilities. The most important is the social network. Set aside the academic performance though.

I heard SHORE is one of the best at North Shore. They are very well organised and quite prestigious. Big in Rowing GPS. You wont dream to get in if you are not registered by while you are 6 weeks old or boarding. Apparently they can fill up their year 7 ten times the normal intakes (200 per year).

You are right.... all ends up with what's your budget.

If you do aware that Rodney Adler, James Packer etc are from Cranbrook. Then if you send your child to Cranbrook, you have chances to socialise with those high society and it would give you a chance to grow with them in the future.

Yeah, what's your point? It just means that they've been given greater exposure to rowing and that's what they stuck with. I'm saying that even if public schools do not get the opportunity to follow something like that, they'll nonetheless choose something else to follow throughout life.

In life, you pay for what you get, unless you are good enough to get into the top selective. Lots of parents work 2 jobs to send their kids to top Private. For what? Obviously they see the value for the money.
