i dont think they're gunna re-invite you, they just expect you have to go back to the myer website frequently to check to see if any new interview slots has come up...i think theres 2 interview slots every monday at Brookside

you're in brisbane right?

i had my interview today and it was EAAASSY PEAAASY
all you had to do was talk alot and come up with good ideas

I went for a group interview ages ago, and I’ll personally say that it's such a bullshit way to assess candidates suitable for your work. We had to introduce the person, next to us and then we had to do a group activity, which was completely fucked due to this Indian in our group going apeshit because he wouldn't let anyone voice their opinion in why this situation should be prioritized over another. And I could see that the person observing us, was thinking that none of us could interact with each other. And that was it. Like what the fuck?

i have a xmas job at myer as well. i start training this week but can only start my first shift in late nov due to uni exams. i'm scared that by the time i start my first shift i'll forget what i've learnt in the training. are the dj's cash registers similar to myer?

has anyone heard back from dj's? i applied in august and received an email that it could take weeks to sort through applications and their applications are still open?!?! i worked there last yr at xmas and only received around 15 hrs a week and was dumped in early jan. i want bothhh jobs. haha i think my manager last yr blackened my name at dj's and that's why i'm still waiting for a reply.

Well why didn't you speak up and say, 'excuse me, you've raised some good points (whatever your name is) but I think others would like to have a say aswell, I think that XX should've been attended to first because....., what do others think?'

You were suppose to demonstrate leadership skills aswell. Ofcourse you're going to encounter pigs like that, you have to stick up for yourself, and get your point across.

Should've taken some of your own advice from the Best places for work experience to jobs? thread,

Working in the sales industry, IMO is the best work experience, as it helps you develop your interpersonal, communication skills, how to become goal orientated and not give a shit what anyone thinks, as you learn how to overcome all the negative connoations people assoicate with it and you. Also it teaches you how to sell, which is a vital asset that you can have when working, as you sell yourself every single day. For example, when you go into an interview, your basically selling why you have the ability to add value to that organisation through your services. Although, the above only comes about, when you actually are focused on wanting to become successfully with it and not how shit it is when you are new to the industry, which a majority of people do.

lol i know how u feel.. i was hoping there would be a group assesemnt for us but instead we were given sumthing to sell to the group... got asked the most retarded questions from them.... lol i had to sit with the social retarded ones (asians/currys) and yeah... lol when we were told to socialise they all started talking shit about how they love retail?

... lol they were trying to bite each others asses off.. although it was just to sell a product youre given .. meh, i screwed up coz i was given a perfume lol.

which i was a noob at lol.. newayz meh, and they wouldnt ask u proper questions for a sale lol! How the f are you supposed to sell shit to a group lol it comes nowere near what will actually happen if theres 1person or a couple..

.. a lesbian old woman who took out photos when socialising time came .. she actually told us all ...

[end rant]/ sook lol...

hope i get in find out in 7 days...

yeahh great post...ive got a group interview with myer as well.. but im working at big w getting about $10 an hour and i just bought the sexy new pyjama shirt...so i dont know if i should change jobs.

aussie-boy man how much did u get paid at myer per hour and how lenient were they in terms of letting you call in last-minute to say that u cant come in?
The rate is about $18.40
however, they take off a percentage if you're under 21
and another percentage for the first three months
it worked out for me at $11.4253 per hour, at age 17

i was reliable... so idk what they would have said. But, i did find it quite hard to communicate concerns etc to my manager - they hang around in their offices most of the time and you feel really bad talking to them about pay etc when you're meant to be serving customers. They were usually busy when I rang as well.

great post aussie-boy! What department did you work in? How did you go not knowing much about what you were selling?
mens clothes
basically i had to bullshit - people would ask can you tumble dry it, is it good quality, does it look nice... its pretty easy with basic casual stuff

however, suits and business shirts take actual knowledge, so i just hid when i was the only worker in those sections

I have my interview on Wednesday. I've got one issue...we're going away from the 20th-27th of December so I won't be available those days. Will this affect my chances of getting a position? I put that down on the application but they still emailed me for the interview so does that mean it's okay?

And as for what to wear, black dress shirt, black pants, leather shoes, can't go wrong with that right?
