i think 5 is d (full emp= no cyclical UE)
and 11 is a (sell aud->increased supply of aud->depreciation)
and 16 is a (cad by net income deficit is derived from c&f account surplus as servicing costs....d shows c&f account deficit i think..

ah......hsc is over.....life is so fresh

the only wrong one is 5, which is d

if the economy is operating at the natural rate of unemployment i.e. all structural unemployment, then the cyclical rate of unemployment must equal 0

For Q6 i put D.

Because I thought i remember reading that unemployment lags. Is this right?

Everyone seems to have put B. I may have fucked that one up.

in q. 6, economic growth is increasing when it is moving from point a to point b. when economic growth is strong, unemployment will decrease, and also, per capita incomes will increase. this results in increased consumption

therefore, the answer is b

umm q11
can someone check that?
you guys seemed to put A
I thought it was B (also checked after the exam)
cuz the RBA has to buy $A through selling its foreign reserves
A was there to trick you :)
well... at least i hope!!!!

the RBA has limited foreign currency, so it cant exactly influence it a great deal. and, its "other things being equal" so itd be the most simple answer...wouldnt it............tread carefully, you're about to ruin my 19 out of 20!!

lol i want to ruin that 19!!!
so i can get 20 :)
even though it has limited foreign currency, to some extent, it can prevent a rapid depreciation!
pg 105 of tim dixon, " in order to curb a rapid depreciation of the currency the RBA will buy $A, putting upward pressure on the exchange rate. On the other hand, by selling $A, the RBA may prevent a rapid appreciation"
So, selling would actually do the opposite, preventing a rapid appreciation

buying of A$ would increase demand for A$
.: appreciation against other currencies not depreciation

i think for 20/20 u need
1 c
2 c
3 c
4 a
5 d
6 b
7 b
8 d
9 d (damn it i put c)
10 a
11 a
12 a
13 b
14 c
15 d
16 a
17 b
18 b
19 c
20 d

hope so, then i got 19/20
actually, i think 9 is C, when i saw every1 going d i thought yeah that was a stupid mistake, but i think it is actually 9. cause thats the amount of demand (expenditure) cause its on the line C + I, they put J in there to through you. actually, now i think im wrong again.. damn it
