How'd I know you'd interpret that like that, Pwar? sigh.

I'm not not wanting you to be an open day mentor -- the more the better, because first day at uni is confusing!

Reread the post. I was just pointing out that they specifically asked for previous mentors to apply, and you've not been a mentor before. Simple.

Ok James, lets get studying!

See http://www.clubs.mq.edu.au/mits/Contact_Us/Campus_Map_/campus_map_.html for a detailed map of campus.

All lecture theatres are used for a variety of subjects- they are not subject-specific, thus it is best for the students to "get to know" each lecture theatre.

X buildings are a heap of tute rooms used for all subejects (again). The only thing to know about down there is the COE (Centre for Open Education- or whatever it stands for), and the daycare centre.

W6/W5 buildings have SCMP (Asylum correct the abbreviation if I'm wrong) for Social studies (ie. media, anthropology, sociology etc). The rest of the buildings to the best of my knowlegde are tute rooms.

W3A is the law building. All the law offices, moot rooms, common room etc etc..

C5 buildings are a mixture of random tute rooms. There is a lecture theatre in there (Price), and across from it is MQ theatre.

C5C is statistics- ERIC etc. live there. Also the Numeracy Centre. Also computer labs and two (?) lecture theatres -t1 and t2 (if t2 exists).

C3A is the psych building. Psych office etc. etc.

C4A is psych tute rooms and labs for experiments involving humans.

E5 buildings are more tute rooms, and there is Mason theatre for lectures, and a few other little lecture theatres on the upper floors.

E6A I'm not sure of, but was under the impression that that side was the science side? there is also that business building for international students.

F buildings are also science and psych labs (as I said above). It is a long walk to get there.

how did you all find the interview (for those who did it of course, i know a few of you do it tommorrow)?

I found it nice an casual, though it was a little awkward at first because it was more of them telling me about what they do (which is great, but it required me to do extended nodding sessions, which makes me look dorky :p).

Anywayz. I found it good overall. i think i was a little too quiet, but i told them how im very different when in a role such as mentoring etc (i.e. i talk alot when i am meant to in a role, so i do the job well-not shy at all).

how did others find it?

They usually have yellow sheets of paper for Mentor application, but mentor training starts prior to orientation. So you apply end of this year, mentor beginning of next year, and basically stay as a mentor unless otherwise.

I found the interview great. The ladies were really nice- they liked that I worked in Tree of Life, and liked my necklace too! :D I agree with the dorky nodding session at the beginning, but I tried to overcome that by asking little random questions throughout. They want me to do the train thing on open day, and do the BA stand, and train me as an academic advisor! Thats the kinda stuff I'm interested in.

I was relived when they gave me the sheets of paper: it showed that I was accepted. Steve made me v. aware of the paper work, and when I saw James walking out, I smiled because I saw he had the paperwork too! :)

Love the $22 an hour!
