Lynn has not had to thread any needles for the skirt (yay) but has to unpick many, many times. The colour of fabric has not helped - rather than being solid, or even patterned, the threads of fabric graduate between white and black. The black thread used to sew skirt is hidden much the same way a tiger is hidden in a field of long yellow grass - distinction between working thread and fabric thread is almost indistinguishable. It has been MOST frustrating.

But it is finally finished!!!!

Lynn now only has a dress to alter tommorrow, and THEN she can start on the formal dress. Somewhere in all that Lynn must also alter her own formal dresd to ensure she does not "fall out" ;) :p Lynn is very relieved at prospect of finishing all garments and getting some $$$!!!

Lynn has a long dance rehearsal tommorrow, and now is definately a good time to think about getting some zzz's. Lynn thanks Marcus for the wonderful chat and "Marcus' Storytime", and looks forward to chatting with him again soon. She wishes him a good night's sleep with interesting dreams.

Lynn is making a quick post before she leaves for "Pomona St, Pennant Hills" (who comes up with these names anyway, she thinks).

At about 1:30am this morning, just before she went to bed after long and interesting chat with friends on Important - Please Read, Lynn remembered the (official) BOS letter, and another one beside it. Lynn opened them both up. One was something she completely expected - the smsing of HSC results, however the other was a complete suprise.

Lynn probably has one of the highest rep and depth of experience in terms of dance and PA at her school (mainly circumstantial with several VERY lucky breaks), however dance co-ordinator is not fond of her because Lynn's forte is tap as opposed to "Classical Ballet" (in which Lynn is only cross-trained). Lynn is a VERY active supporter of "You do not need to be a ballerina to dance!" mantra, whereas dance co-ordinator has "Ballet is the root of all dance - without ballet, you cannot dance properly" opinion.

Lynn was so sure she would not get any sort of reward for her participation in school-related dance activities that she even made a bet with a friend that a particular person would get the award on the basis of "They've been in the dance group since Yr 7" (which has happened numerous times in the past, among other even lamer excuses, if you would believe it possible).

However Lynn now has to honour a $20 bet. Lynn got the Dance Award - the thing she has been working towards for the last 5 years.

And now for a humorous note. Lynn is wearing a very special top today. It is pink. With white polka dots. With a pretty little lace trim. And a cute little bow.

Lynn looks at it and laughs. She thinks that her friends will also. It is just so.... INSERT WORD.

Justin congratulates Lynn, as dancing seems to be one of her passions. Of course she's more passionate about writing, isn't she? :p

Marcus is very proud of Lynn, and is glad that she has achieved what she has set herself to achieving. Lynn deserves it.

Marcus believes that talking to himself in the third person is therapeutic. It is one way that he may more fully realise his own thoughts and feelings.

...Marcus thinks with the passing of time. He is waiting for 4:00 to come so that he can check the assesment information the school sent to the Board of Studies on Students Online.

As much as Marcus would like to enjoy these coming holidays, a weight sits in his stomach. It is a tumult; it is churned by rumination, by fear. Marcus fears his results. Yet he also desires to know them so that he may escape his own tempest of doubt. It is vindication Marcus desires, but Marcus knows that vindication cannot be sought from external things. Marcus knows that he must be, rather than think, that he must breathe, rather than doubt.

Lynn urges Marcus not to worry so much. What's done is done, and everything is completely out of our hands at this point. There is no real point in worrying about something that has not happened yet, as Marcus may very well get the high mark we desires and deserves, and he would then have to look back and go "Oh piffle, I spent the last few months worrying, and then I get THIS?".

Lynn thanks Marcus and Justin for their lovely words. To Justin, she says that she is not entirely sure which she prefers. For most of her life until the age of 12 Lynn LOVED writing and had a WONDERFUL Yr 3 teacher who greatly encouraged her writing skills, however it was not until Yr 7 that Lynn began to write again. Lynn has been attending dance lessons since the age of 6 but didn't really become "a dancer" until the age of 14. Since the she has been avidly pursuing dance, as it has a use-by date.

Lynn has passion for both writing and dance, she cannot be sure which she likes more, if she does like them unequally. The two are very much part of Lynn - half passion, half nature.

Lynn agrees that writing in third person is very theraputic. It allows one to form one's thoughts with the ability to objectively critique thoughts, or catch ones' self before writing something in anger or times of heightened emotion.

Marcus believes that we should not confine ourselves to a single creative outlet. He therefore believes that Lynn should pursue what she loves - dance and writing or whatever else - because they are all expressions of the one creativity.

Marcus has just been on the net looking up jokes about Viola players (Violists)...

"Why don't Violists play hide and seek? -
Because no one will look for them."

"What do a SCUD missile and a Viola player have in common?
They're both offensive and inaccurate."

"Who is a true gentlemen? -
A man who knows how to play Viola, but doesn't."

"Why do people get scared when someone walks into a bank holding a Viola case? -
Its not because they are afraid that it has a gun in it, but because it might have a real Viola, and that the person might take it out and start playing."

"What's the most effective male birth control method? -
Tell the girl he plays the Viola."

"What's the difference between a Viola and fingernails scraping on a blackboard? -
Vibrato."

"What's the difference between a Viola player and a dressmaker? -
The dressmaker gets paid to tuck up the frills: A Viola player ...
Figure it out."

"What's the difference between a Viola player and Doctor Scholl's Footpads? -
Doctor Scholl's bucks up the feet: A Viola player ...
OK, we're not going to go there.* This website has a family rating."

"What's the difference between a Violist and a dog? -
The dog knows when to stop scratching."

Lynn is pleased that there is someone out there willing to learn the Viola - Lynn does not like idea of any traditions or skills dying out, no matter how obscure - so long as they do not hurt anyone :)

Lynn has just returned from an attempt to get a tan in the afternoon sun (and yes, she put on some sunscreen, Lynn is a good girl!) and after about an hour... the BAREST hint of tan. Lynn is depressed. She feels doomed to have chicken-coloured legs forever, however she finds it strange that her upper body tans very easily but her legs simply refuse to...

LYNN WANTS A TAN!!! :'(

Marcus apologises to Alan. Marcus actually believes that the Viola is a nice instrument; it can't compete with Gadulka, but it's a nice instrument. ;)

La la la la la... strum strum strum... *Lynn makes various other tootles and whistles that are very vaguely instrument-like*

Lynn had a very long, very painful dance rehearsal in which both her mental and physical capabilities were stretched to the limit. She had to learn an extremely fiddly routine in an entire day and her head still feels full of cotton-wool (not ideal conditions for picking up chorey).

Lynn also was "smart enough" to go without shoes as she reasoned that the dance would not have many turns - as it turned out, dance was FULL of turns and Lynn's feet are still extremely sore. On the plus side, it speed-calloused her feet, saving Lynn the pain of having to walk barefoot on concrete or dipping feet into methylated spirits (which Lynn has not had to do yet, thankfully) to toughen up the feet.

Well, that was Lynn's day. How was Justin's day? Did he have a pleasant reading session last night?
