School Certificate is a joke, really, enjoy yr10 while you can, it's true yr11 is much harder (But not insane or anything, but a definite step up) I put no effort in at all (read: no study - not even in class) and i got over 80 in everything, even geography, which i got D's in all year and made no effort to improve.

I started putting effort in this year and i've been doing really well, and i'm sure you are an intelligent lot, and could do the name. Make the most of Yr10, its a great year, don't believe any of the bullshit about "Developing study habits" Or "This will most likely reflect your HSC mark" - it's not true, for one any study habits you can create are completely destroyed by the end of you extra long summer holidays, and it doesn't reflect anything to do with your HSC as you are forced to do the same subjects as everyone else, not necessarily ones you are good at or like.

TL;DR: SC is a laugh, don't worry about it. Make the most of Yr10 instead!

Seconded, I got all mid-high band 5's without any work at all - apart from a bit of study for history on aboriginal and women's rights... but nobody gives a shit about them anyway.

Year 10 is nothing, but it let's them build up on their exam skills etc and it's satisfying to know you did well, despite it not going to anything.

As always, for anything, just do your best.

Found out today that as soon as I write my name on the exam papers I get 45%. I pratically threw my maths textbook out a third-storey window when I heard.
The teacher that told me, however, was like "NO! You still have to study! Do you want to become a bogan!"

And I thought they weren't allowed to discriminate, lol.

So now I'm sweet as far as the SC goes. I'll do some study but now I know not to over-do-it.

No... you don't get 45% for writing your name, and I'm certain - I know somebody who got a band 2 in maths for the SC.

It is easy to say it was easy and useless, and that's because it is.

I didn't study at all for anything (probably picked up info from people stressing around me before the exams though) and got band 6s for everything.

If you've got a brain, you'll be fine.

And he tried harder than anyone else, hes putting so much effort into general and i don't think hes passing.

I'm assuming it's the person i'm thinking of that he's talking about.

We just had a full day of history revision at my school, and one of our teachers was teaching us how to go full-out with studying. I was sitting there thinking, What's the point seriously?
I barely think about the SC... I'm a bit stressed about my yearlies which are the first week back next term. But from what I've heard about the SC, our school yearly exams will probably be a lot more difficult than the SC..

Yeah im kinda stressing out because of the pressure thats behind my back. Got teachers expecting me to get band 6 in maths because they think im soo smart and since history and geography is one paper it feels like soo much study for a 2hr test =="

Tell the teachers that it doesn't matter what you get, because it has no reflection of your mark in the HSC.

My science teacher tell us that our life depends on SC. That's ridiculous, I know. I've been chilling and bludging throughout the year but I'm hoping to do well in SC even if it doesn't counts for anything.
