So what you've just said is
'You can believe your elephant thing, let me believe my god thing', so basically you're admitting that your faith in god is as strong as my claim that there's an elephant behind you that you can't see or touch or sense...

Why get your back up with
Your so called perspective can't influence me
don't you want to even discuss it? if not then stop posting, we made this thread because people kept nagging in the other one about how it's wrong to criticise peoples beliefs.

We don't give a shit about your "belief" per se. I mentioned at the very beginning, "please give REASONS, don't just say 'I believe this' etc."

You can't go around proclaiming some belief without any reasons or evidence and expect people to understand why you believe it, and moreover, why it would have any value in a discussion like this.

Translation:

I concede that I cannot show why God exists, so I'll call you names.
whats ur faith then, and ill anaysle and tell you why your life is wrong

u can concede the fact this is my belief

dont get offended when u use ur logic against my faith - what do u want me to say?? i couldnt care less if ur going to stay here in this conversation actually take part because i have not seen ur opinion on the matter

because every1 can get into an argument here and it wont change a thing except to build resentment

We Accept your faith.. what we don't understand is why you accept things so blindly... Your only basis for believing in a god is the same as my basis for believing I am God...
Can't u see the fundamental problem there?
no, you can't say that.

eienstein 'blindly' postulated the theories of relativity. Did he have any proof? no

these postulates are only being verified today, yet still not proved.

it is wrong deny other people's faiths and beliefs.

dude we're not telling you your LIFE is wrong,
we're simply pointing out that your religious ideology has a fairly thin base to it.... your claims are as good as me telling you i am god.

We don't have explanations that we see as absoblute truth... we accept that, we don't make them up.

I am not arguing as to whether you believe something or not. I am saying that you have no reasons for the validity of your belief.

Like I keep saying, if I said that I was abducted by aliens last night, would you simply believe it? NO! You'd ask for some proof or evidence.

What do I believe? I believe that there is no valid proof or reason for the existence of God, just as there is no valid proof or reason for there not being a God. This is called agnosticism, btw.

No he didn't have any proof, but his CONCEPT was better than 'mortals cannot understand relativity', he explained it as a fairly basic concept... ever heard of the falling elevator?

edit.

this is about my belief because this is a discussion about whether god exists- my answer is yes

my belief is that human logic or science cannot prove this question to be right or wrong

if you r going to join this discussion dont stand on the sidelines and bitch, and give me a lecture on reasoning- it is not place to reason u to believe what i believe. notthatbright says he imagines lots of things and has many ideas- good for him but i disagree.

even though i disagree with notthatbright and all of you to criticise other ppl's beliefs....its not you r plave at all cause you dont have the answer no matter what prrof u may think i have cause i think its wrong (just like u cant accept faith as a reason for believing) its that simple faith if u really think about it

Well, I think it is fairly obvious to say that it is not wrong to question the validity of something that has no valid reasons or evidence

If John Howard publically announced that every muslim in the country was part of a conspiracy to kill the caucasian race, and that we therefore must destroy them first, then I'd be somewhat skeptical, wouldn't you?

the falling elevator is newtonian relativity. Einstein's theory of special relativity is based on two postulates

1. The laws of physics are the same in all inertial systems, that is the formulas stay the same
2. The speed of light in a vacuum is a constant independent of the system, source or observer

these cannot be proved (yet), so are you going to say you don't believe them?

So are you telling me my belief that i am god has as strong a basis as your beliefs?

my belief is that human logic or science cannot prove this question to be right or wrong
It can to a certain degree... but in the end it comes down to a humans personal decisions, i know this. But it is wrong to make decisions on the basis of no logic.... Then anyone could claim anything.

Look, the way you prove things on this planet is through reason and logic. If, as you say, human science (which I will change to "logic and reason") cannot prove this question to be right or wrong, why would you believe it?

How many times do I have to say this - belief without evidence or reason is absurd. I notice you keep avoiding answering our examples, that if we proclaimed we were abducted by aliens, would you believe us? NO! Because we have not given you any reason or evidence.

sure you can question it, people are trying to prove theories wrong every day

but you cannot say some thing is false because "it has no proof"

it must be proved false to be false

Well no i don't believe them as absoblute truths, neither should anyone else.
However einstein has used logic to come to his conclusions... he hasn't simply come up with the idea out of no where, so i'd say its a bit better than claiming that god exists however is beyond our capabilities...

Ah, but I am not claiming it is false. I am saying there are no grounds for believing it.

yes ok this is getting annoying if u believe that u were abducted for aliens i have no say on the matter- every1s perceptions on life and god is their own...do u not understand faith is embedded in everybody individually?? its not a collective thing that requires a vote and discussion as u would like to believe

u believe what u want- mock faith all you want it wont change the fact i have my own perceptions about faith

and agnostocosm isnt about having no proof btw its more to do with the confusion of organised religions and the "right path" for every individual. things do not come into existence because you prove them because for me being agnostic is about having faith in something beyond me and everything and believing that there is purpose

being agnostic is not a strict way to have beliefs- its what you make of it around all the confusion

why should i prove what u consider "undeniable" proof to show you god exists- no one can, but that doesnt mean he doesnt exist

it means if u have faith in life and that it has meaning and not just random without meaning- i believe we live for a reason- for oursleves and others to work with and sometimes against each other

You have to draw the line somewhere...

There are somethings that simply cannot be prooved false,
such as me saying that there's a monkey behind you that you cant see, hear, or sense...
or that I am your god but i am too powerful for you to comprehend it,
or that your a brain in a glass jar being fed complex information tricking you into thinking this is reality....

The line that should be drawn is commonsense..

well, there you go, you don't deny the existance of god.

you simply don't feel comfortable with other people beliving it.

that is ok, with me.

i personally don't believe either.

i don't reckon that there has to be a line. I reckon everything is somewhere, until proven...
so how's that monkey going?
