I would have said it was polyhydroxybutyrate/valerate copolymer.

but it has a wide variety of names.

Conq. Chem says butanoate but others butyrate
so idk haha

Lol yeh biopol is a copolymer between poly-3-hydroxybutyrate and poly-3-valerate, and I am sure it is 3hydroxybutyrate, I did an assignment on it. If you want it just let me know

They say both. If you say either of them, you'll get the mark I imagine. Conquering Chem says "poly-3hydroxybutanoate" (and so does my teacher), but excel and others say poly-3hydroxybutyrate. I think Macquarie also uses butanoate, but don't quote me... Either way, I think you'd be safe using either of them. But, I'll admit, I'm no chemistry genius.

Actually you are correct when you say they will get the mark as it is written in conquering chem Butanoate and butyrate somewhere else, and essential they are the same

In suggested answers from a Success One HSC book, they say "polyhydroxybutanoate". They actually skip the "3". I'd go for poly-3hydroxybutanoate. Just saying.
